since i've done the astral express (+ aventurine and ratio), i figured it was time to do the stellaron hunters now. so, here's how i think they would take their coffee.
Blade - doesn't care. he will drink it black. he will drink it with so much sugar in it that it will kill him (he will especially drink it then). he will drink it iced. he will drink it made with orange juice. he, however, will only drink it if it's been handed to him. he won't make it himself.
Kafka - two shots of espresso. just a dash of milk.
Silver Wolf - doesn't drink coffee because she doesn't like the taste, nor does she particularly like hot drinks. she drinks only energy drinks; her favourite is the watermelon monster.
Firefly - french vanilla. that is all.
Elio - out of a bowl.

Event Horizon
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
summary: When you start university to do your master’s in physics, you are more than surprised to meet your professor: Joel Miller, an old friend of your parents' who moved away years ago. word–count: 15k warnings: professor kink, power imbalance due to Joel being reader's professor, illegal relationship (overage & consenting), dbf!Joel, big fat age gap (unspecified but written with early 20s & mid 50s in mind), unprotected piv, just overall daddy issues (no use of the word daddy)
note: Okay, time to tell you I am a big nerd and studied physics in uni. Truth is, I quit to pursue a career in the arts, so my knowledge of masters level physics is...a little rusty. Please be lenient with me if I messed anything up. Also, I know most people hate physics, but I promise Joel makes it hot. Warning: explanation of the Dirac equation as foreplay. Also, I'm European and have no fucking clue how the American education system works but I don't care enough to do research. Enjoy <3333
event horizon noun ASTRONOMY a notional boundary around a black hole beyond which no light or other radiation can escape. a point of no return.
Uni felt different at eighteen, when everything was about moving out, drinking beer at frat parties, and kissing boys who didn’t grow up in the same town you did. It was an exciting time, the degree itself fading into the background of all sorts of new experiences, but now that you’re doing your masters, you plan on focusing on your your grades more than on partying.
You enrolled in a new university, farther away from home, with a better physics program, and although you’ve grown up considerably, you still feel that tingle of anxiety you did when you first walked to your dorm, fresh out of high school. This time you won’t have to share with another student, spending your saved money on a bit of privacy that is a single dorm room, but still, you wonder if you’ll make friends here, or if you’ll spend your night hauled up alone, watching trash TV and crying because you’re lonely.
The room is small, blank, but functional with a bathroom you share with another student and a small kitchenette, and immediately you dream of all the ways you could decorate it. You didn’t bring much, just a big suitcase and a few boxes your Dad dropped off earlier. You feel slightly guilty for leaving your parents behind, but the relief outweighs the guilt – you won’t have to come home every Sunday for dinner, visits will be scarce. You love you parents, but the distance is much needed.
You get to unpacking your clothes, reveling in the fact that you can listen to music without headphones in your very own space. You could do it in your underwear, or naked, you could sing and dance along, and nobody would be bothered by it. It’s going to be a tough two years, the program you chose more than challenging, but a childish sort of giddiness fills you – no roommate to be considerate of, no parents to visit and take care of every week. This time in your life is about you, and only you – your career, but also your well-being. You promise yourself to do what makes you happy, instead of looking out for everyone else all of the time, and you’ll start by ordering Thai food and watching the trashiest movie with the hottest actors you can find on the little flatscreen you brought with you.
***
Your first lecture is Computational Physics – the one you’re looking forward to the least. The reason you decided to study physics at all was the predictable logic behind each problem, but the more you studied, the more complex the problems got, until they were impossible to solve analytically. Now you get to solve fluid dynamic equations and simulate quantum systems on a Monday morning instead of having a peaceful cup of coffee and taking a walk around campus.
The lecture hall is big, and you pick a seat that is neither too far away to be able to read the professor’s notes, nor close enough to immediately be pinned as an over-eager teacher’s pet. In the end, you plop down next to a girl who’s sitting alone, something about her shaved head and countless earrings making you think she wouldn’t make fun of you even if you didn’t understand a single thing all lecture.
"Okay if I sit here?", you ask somewhat timidly, trying hard not to sound too much like an eleven year old Ron Weasley boarding the train to Hogwarts.
"Please," the girl answers, "I don’t know anybody here."
"Did you move here, too?"
"Yeah, I’m from New York."
"You look it," you say with a smile, eyes drifting over her clothes and jewelry.
"Thanks…I guess?", she answers, her grin revealing a charming gap between her front teeth. "I’m Alva."
You introduce yourself, thankful to have found someone you can stick to already. Throughout the lecture you find out that apart from being much cooler than everyone else in the room, Alva has a biting sense of humor, and a near endless knowledge of computational physics. You make a mental note to ask her to study together, her explanations much easier to understand than the professor’s.
The two of you spend your lunch break together, and you tell her a little bit about yourself, but way too soon it’s time to go already – you have Advanced Quantum Mechanics in a different lecture hall. This you find way more interesting, basic quantum mechanics was one of your favorite lectures during your bachelor’s degree. As Alva and you sit down, you find yourself hoping you’ll be able to help her out this time, or you’d feel like a leech for making her help you with Computational. She doesn’t seem bothered, though, and keeps babbling happily about a band she recently discovered.
"– Britpop, but they only put out two albums. I think they were like a student band or something? They’re wildly underrated, I’ll send you a song, their debut is called The Sun Is Often Out."
Your thoughts start to wander off a little, eyes drifting over the old-fashioned chalkboards, when the door at the front of the lecture hall opens, and a tall man walks in – a man you recognize.
"Holy shit," you whisper, interrupting Alva’s rant about the Longpigs, and she turns her head to look at what you’re staring at.
"Damn," she says with a grin, "if I wasn’t gay, I’d want a piece of that."
"No," you snort, "I know him. He’s my Dad’s friend."
Alva opens her mouth to say something, but at that moment, Joel Miller steps forward, checking to see if the microphone is working, and introduces himself to the hundreds of students in front of him. His voice is deep, and as warm as you remember it, but that’s where the accuracy of your memories ends – your childish brain failed to register the tanned forearms and rolled up sleeves, the carelessly styled curls, the perfect side-profile. He’s got grey streaks in his hair now, which should send you into a crisis about time passing and your own little life being finite, but instead it makes your stomach swirl with something dangerous. Joel Miller, the Joel Miller, who organized backyard barbecues with your father and bought your favorite vegan sausages when your Dad rolled his eyes at you, who made strawberry lemonade instead of lemon, because he knew you preferred it, who helped you with your physics homework when you were graduating high school and didn’t rat you out when he caught you smoking at seventeen – he’s handsome.
There’s still a familiarity about him, the way he moves and talks, although it’s unsettling to see him in such a different environment. You’re used to band-tee-Joel, beer bottle and tongs in his hands, a breezy smile on his face. He looks different here, in a white button-down, with a stern expression on his face, as he’s reading the names on his list to check attendance. When he calls Alva’s name and she raises her hand, his eyes flicker upwards, but he doesn’t look at you. Still, your stomach lurches. If you listen carefully, you can detect that southern twang in his voice you’re sure most people would miss, and it fills you with satisfaction to know you’re the one who knows him best in this room – you’re sure half the lecture hall must see how attractive he is.
When he reads out your name, there’s a surprised lilt to his tone, and your heart threatens to skip a beat.
"Here."
Your eyes meet, and although his expression doesn’t change, he holds your eyecontact for a second too long. Alva nudges your side and grins.
Your plans about outshining Alva and returning the favor of helping with a lecture are quickly buried by Joel Miller’s beautiful hands – thick fingers holding a piece of chalk almost tenderly, twirling it around when he isn’t writing on the chalkboard. You vaguely register him introducing the Dirac equation, but as interesting as you would normally find it, your thoughts are stuck between memories of barbecues and the realization that you will have to call the man who taught you to drive Professor Miller.
If Alva notices your wandering mind, she doesn’t comment on it, which you’re thankful for. You do notice her throwing you a couple of knowing glances, as you copy down what Joel is writing down, mixing up gamma, delta, and the Dirac spinor.
"Alright, so you all know how Schrödinger’s equation works great for quantum mechanics, but it doesn’t play nicely with Einstein’s relativity, right? That’s a problem because electrons move fast, sometimes close to the speed of light, so we need an equation that respects both quantum mechanics and special relativity. That’s where Dirac steps in."
He’s still got that warm way of explaining things your Dad never managed when you needed help in high school, like he enjoys clearing things up for people. He’s a born teacher, patient when you panicked in the car because you confused the clutch and the break, persistent when you wanted to throw your physics book against a wall. Look, kid, think of it this way: Push harder, it moves faster. Make it heavier, it’s harder to move. If you apply a force F to an object with mass m, it will accelerate a. That’s why your Dad’s car takes longer to stop than your bike. Even now, he manages to make a far more complex equation than Newton’s second law tangible.
"Dirac's equation is like the grown-up version of Schrödinger’s equation. It explains how particles with spin-half, like electrons, behave when they move at relativistic speeds. The gamma mu matrices make sure the equation works in four-dimensional spacetime, meaning three space dimensions plus time. The psi is a spinor, which is just a fancy way of saying that an electron isn’t just a simple wave function, it actually has spin built into its nature. Now, can anyone think of a situation where we would need to use this equation instead of the regular Schrödinger equation?"
Nobody raises their hand, most people still busy with writing down Joel’s complicated notes, and as if on cue, his eyes are on yours when you look up from your notebook. He raises an eyebrow, and you see the corner of his mouth twitch almost imperceptibly. Then, he calls your last name, a formal Miss dripping off his tongue as if he hasn’t called you kiddo for most of your life. It’s almost like he’s making a joke only the two of you are able to understand, and the thought thrills you to your bone. Two can play this game – you smile back.
"Sure, Professor Miller. You’d use it for studying high-energy particles, like electrons in particle accelerators, because it accounts for relativistic speeds. It’s also needed for situations where particles are created or destroyed, which Schrödinger’s equation doesn’t cover."
Again, his eyes linger on yours, and his slightly amused smile turns into a more genuine one at your answer. You let out a relieved sigh.
"Exactly," Joel answers, his attention on the rest of the class again, "Someone payed attention during Basic Quantum Mechanics. Now, here’s where it gets wild. When Dirac wrote this down, he realized it naturally predicts antiparticles, meaning for every electron, there should be a mirror-image particle with opposite charge, which we now call the positron. That was a huge deal because it wasn’t something people were expecting, it just fell out of the math."
For the rest of the class, Joel doesn’t continue that little game between the two of you, but whenever he asks a question, his gaze flickers over you, and your stomach gives an embarrassing little jump. Alva grins whenever this happens, but for most of the class she’s busy following Joel’s explanations.
"I want you to read up on today’s lecture," Joel says at the end of the lecture, and writes down a few page numbers on the chalkboard, "and solve the problems I mentioned earlier. Attendance isn’t mandatory, we’re all adults here, but I urge you to come if you’re interested in graduating in the next three years. Trust me, it’s easier to just do the work here than in your dorms. Now, enjoy the weather, see you Monday."
You and Alva pack up your things, and before she can ask you which class you have next, you pick up your backpack.
"I’m gonna say hi to him," you tell her, nodding in Joel’s direction, "my Dad and him go way back."
"Sure," Alva says, a cheeky smile on her face, "it’d be rude not to."
"Meet you outside?"
"I’ll be at the vending machine. Go get him," she jokes, and you snort.
Joel is packing up his course materials when you make your way down the steps and to his desk, but he looks up when he hears you coming towards him, and immediately his face splits into a smile. If you were anywhere else and ten years younger, he’d probably ruffle your hair.
"Good lecture," you say, "Dad didn’t tell me you’re teaching again."
Joel puts his piece of chalk into a tin box and nods.
"I don’t think he knows. You know how it is, we never get around to callin’ and I haven’t been home in a while."
So this is a new development, perhaps even Joel’s first semester back at university, too.
"What about the contracting? Don’t you miss the…pipes?"
He chuckles at your lack in basic contracting knowledge, his eyes not moving from yours.
"Ah, that was always Tommy, he just needed a little help. Company’s doin’ well now, though, so he’ll manage without me."
You think you remember Tommy – a man good-naturedly chasing you and the rest of the giggling neighborhood kids with a harden hose but the memory is too vague to be sure it’s really him.
"You’ve grown up," Joel says, almost accusingly, and you shrug and smile. "Doin’ your master’s already. How come you’re familiar with Dirac?"
His accent is much thicker now that it’s only the two of you, and you notice a hint of pride when he asks about your correct answer to his question during the lecture. The satisfied feeling it gives you is still the same as when he high-fived you after your drivers test, or when he patted your back after you solved a problem for school without his help.
"Summer reading," you admit, trying hard not to sound like a nerd, "Basic Quantum Mechanics was my favorite lecture as an undergrad."
Joel smiles at you, and puts his notes into his leather bag. He slings it across his shoulder, and nods towards the door.
"How would you like to grab a coffee and tell me all about what’s been goin’ on with you and your old man?"
Your eyes flicker briefly over his hand, gripping the strap of his bag, and you raise an eyebrow.
"What’s the policy for staff having coffee with their students, Professor?"
Joel holds your gaze, the corners of his mouth twitching.
"I’m actually not sure, Miss, I’ve never had to check before."
He’s playing along, and it feels dangerously blurry – yes, he’s your Dad’s old friend, your childhood neighbor, but it feels like more than just joking around.
"Does that mean I’m your first, then?", you ask, voice sweet and close to flirting now. The smile freezes on Joel’s face, and his gaze becomes almost calculating.
"Am I yours?" he asks you softly, and the double-meaning behind his question isn’t lost on you. You feel a thrilling pang in your stomach – Joel Miller is flirting with you.
***
You do end up getting coffee after you tell Alva you’ll meet her later, Joel reassuring you it won’t get him into trouble, and you’re fascinated to see he still drinks it black. What fascinates you even more is that you remember how he takes his coffee, and you wonder why your brain filed this fact away as important, not to be forgotten.
"So, when did you graduate? Sorry I missed it."
There’s honest regret in his voice, which surprises you. Joel was always a warm person, but you figured he cared for you as much as he would have for any kid living across the street.
"Last June," you tell him, dropping a sugar cube into your cappuccino. "I spent the summer working, and now I’m here."
"How d’you like it so far?"
You give a nervous chuckle, torn between the honest truth and pleasant small talk. You opt for the former – this is Joel, after all, not some stranger.
"To be honest with you, I oscillate between enjoying my freedom away from Mom and Dad, and being scared shitless by starting over somewhere new," you admit, looking at your coffee. You haven’t told people about your fear, and it feels good to finally admit it – the grip your parents have had on you makes your newfound freedom almost uncomfortable.
"What d’you mean, startin’ over?", Joel asks, his voice strikingly gentle. You sigh, and shrug.
"I know the distance is good for me, but it was comfortable, just doing what my parents expected of me. I had good grades, nice friends, and just the right amount of drunken nights for them not to worry about my social life too much," you explain, "and now it’s like…there’s so much room to be someone else, cause they won’t see it anyway."
You look up, embarrassed to have spilt your guts like this, but Joel looks thoughtful, his thumb moving along the handle of his coffee cup.
"Sorry," you mutter, "I know they’re your friends, but they can be…"
"Overbearing?"
You smile at him gratefully and he smiles back.
"Look, I know your parents pretty well. They love you to bits, but as an adult I imagine it must be stiflin’.“
"Yeah," you sigh, grateful for his understanding, "I feel like I don’t know who I am when I’m not…their kid."
Joel nods, and sips his coffee, apparently pondering what you said.
"I promised myself I would only do what makes me happy while I’m here," you tell him sheepishly, as if it’s a secret, and Joel laughs.
"Well, I’m not expectin’ you to hand in any homework, then."
You grin, too, and shake your head. It’s surreal, Joel being your professor, and you wearing your heart on your sleeve for him.
"Don’t worry, Professor Miller, I’m not dropping your class."
"You’d better not, it’d really hurt my feelings," Joel says, eyes trained on yours. Again, that blurriness set in motion by the change of his role in your life: neighbor to professor to – what?
"What about you, though? This your first semester here?"
"Second," he tells you, "but I still don’t feel at home. Once a Texan, always a Texan, I guess."
You cock your head and watch him drain the last of his coffee, the cup tiny in his hands.
"What?" he asks you, curiosity evident in his voice.
"You look so different," you say, and Joel scoffs.
"Well, that’s real nice. Know I’m not thirty anymore, but geez–"
"No," you say with a grin, "it’s not that. I don’t know, I’ve just never seen you teach before. Or dressed this nice – I remember you mowing the lawn in a Fleetwood Mac shirt, not checking attendance in a button down."
Joel’s cheeks go slightly pink, and he scoffs again.
"Well, I can’t show up here in a band tee, can I? Gotta dress the part," he mutters.
"I get it. You suit it," you tell him, if only to see that blush appear on his face again. He looks up at you, holding your gaze for a couple of seconds, then he shakes his head.
"What were the odds of us meetin’ like this, huh? I gotta call your father and tell him."
Something about that bothers you, you’d prefer for your parents not to know. You like sitting here with Joel, reminiscing the old times, without anybody getting a peek in.
"Or not," he says gently, seeing the expression on your face.
"Sorry," you say, "course you can tell him."
"You apologize a lot," he tells you, and you fight the urge to say sorry once again. "It’s okay, I’m not tellin’ anyone, kid. ’S just you n me."
That pang in your stomach again, and you nod.
"Alright," you answer, "just us."
You get a refill for the two of you, and a blueberry muffin to split, which feels strangely intimate, but Joel pats his stomach and jokes about keeping an eye on his figure, so you grin, and ask the barista to cut it in half. Joel asks you about your friends, and you tell him about Alva.
"Oh yes," he says and swallows a bite of the muffin, "that punky lookin’ kid who sits next to you?"
"Yeah, she’s nice. Haven’t really met anyone else."
"Geez, I’m not keepin’ you from findin’ frat boys to hook up with, am I?"
You laugh, the idea of sitting here with a twenty-something year old kid named Cole or Josh instead of him so absurd, you can’t help it.
"No," you tell him, "I’m honestly enjoying the fact that I don’t have to have someone else in my dorm anymore."
"Well, that’s a relief to hear," Joel says, "they’re all dipshits."
You remember him telling you something similar about the boys in high school, and it makes you smile. He’s still got that protective streak, then.
"To tell you the truth, I’m glad you’re here," you say quietly, "if I’m not making any friends, I can come crying to you."
Joel watches you for a couple of seconds, not laughing as you intended, but taking your words seriously.
"Course you’ll make friends. Give it a couple of weeks, and you’ll have forgotten all about physics cause you’ll be skippin’ classes left and right to hang out with people."
You don’t tell him, but you think it’s very unlikely you’ll skip any of his classes. Still, you appreciate his words and how confident he seems to be in your ability to open up to people.
"Well, will you give me the answers to your exams if I skip your class?"
"No way," he says with a cheeky smile, the crinkles around his eyes prominent. "I don’t do preferential treatment. You wanna split another blueberry muffin?"
You grin.
"Thought you were watching your waistline."
"I am, that’s why I’m only eating halves."
***
Your afternoon with Joel leaves you on a high for the rest of the day, feeling much less lonely now that you’ve had a conversation beyond the usual so how many siblings do you have? and where did you do your undergrad?
You start spending your lunch breaks with Alva and some friends she made in another lecture, all of whom are very nice. In the evenings you all go to see a movie or have dinner together in any of your dorm rooms, and although you walk around campus holding out one eye for Joel, you don’t see him for the rest of the week. There is always a nudge of disappointment in your stomach, when you glance in the direction of his office, and the door is closed, but you’re so busy, you don’t dwell on it too much. The days pass in a blur of new lectures, swapping music with Alva, and evenings spent as a group of six, and suddenly it’s Sunday again. You aren’t too sad the weekend is already over, and you know exactly why you’re looking forward to Monday, but you don’t allow yourself to think about Joel any more than you can help.
In the afternoon, while you’re doing Joel’s assignment for the next class, your mother calls, and you answer the phone with a mixture of feelings.
Hi, my darling, how are you doing?
"Hi, Mom. I’m good, just doing my work for tomorrow. How are you?"
Good, good. How was your first week? Did you meet anyone nice?
Hah, if she only knew. It feels deceptive, not telling her about Joel, but you like that for now, he’s just yours.
"Yes, this girl called Alva. We and some guys hang out a lot, there’s a cinema near by, but the lectures are pretty hard, so we only have the evenings off."
Well, I’m glad you found some nice people! Dad says hi, he’s making dinner. Anyway, baby, we miss you terribly. Do you know when you’ll be coming home?
"I just got here, Mom."
You sigh so quietly your mother can’t hear it, guilt already nagging at your heart. Sunday is the day you would usually be coming home for dinner, and you know it’s no coincidence your parents called you now.
Of course, you’re right. It’s just not easy for your Dad and me, you know? You’ve never been this far from home, and you’re our baby.
Yeah, you think, your adult baby. You sigh again.
"I don’t know if I’ll come this month, I’m still sort of settling in. But I’ll let you know if there’s a free weekend next month, alright?"
Sure, that sounds great. Will you send us some pictures of your friends, and your room?
"Sure," you say, but it bugs you that you’re giving in. Already, you’re breaking the promise you made yourself, and letting your parents further into your life here than you’re comfortable with.
"Mom, I gotta go, I’ve still got some problems to solve and I’m meeting Alva for dinner soon."
Okay, darling, enjoy your night! And make yourself heard. I love you!
"Love you, too! Talk soon."
Your kind, clingy mother, whose greatest pain is not knowing if you’re safe. In a way you miss her, and you feel guilty for being annoyed. Still, you know you have to gently nudge her away from you, or she’ll suffocate you one day. It makes you angry with yourself, because you know your Mom would have liked nothing more than to hear all about your week, but as soon as she asked you a question, you felt like your seventeen year old self again, getting yelled at because you stayed up past your curfew, and your parents didn’t know where you were.
Tears of frustration spring to your eyes – the mix of feelings too much for you to handle. You wipe them away with the back of your hand, breathe in shakily, and try to focus on your assignment again, but now you’re riled up, and the tears won’t stop.
It’s hard for you to deal with disappointing your parents, forcing them away when they would like nothing more than to know everything that’s going on in your life. So, instead of preparing for Joel’s lecture, you cry on your bed, feeling lonely and angry with yourself for hurting them. You know your reaction is disproportionate, but everything you kept buried while you lived close to your parents comes bubbling out of you.
You call Alva, tell her you have cramps because of your period and just want to stay in bed. She’s understanding, asks you if there’s anything she can do, even offers to bring you takeout or a hot water bottle, which makes you feel all the worse for lying to her. You decline her offer, tell her you’ll meet her Monday morning. In the evening, you regret not letting her bring over a real meal, eating cold pasta in your underwear, tears still running down your face and making your head pound.
***
On Monday, you feel slightly better, your headache is gone and your face isn’t as puffy as you expected it to be. Still, you’re in a solitary mood, and are glad to find Alva is able to keep up an entire conversation virtually by herself – you just grunt from time to time, or give noncommittal movements of your head in vague agreement. You hope if she notices your bad mood, she just thinks it has to do with your period.
Computational Physics is hell – you dislike it on the best of days, but guilt ridden and tired, you’re barely able to pay attention at all, and the professor’s handwriting is so bad, you end up copying down Alva’s notes instead. She’s kind about it, slides over her notebook at an angle that makes it easy to read, and you make a mental note to thank her for being so kind to you while you’re offering nothing but a scowling expression all day. Maybe you’ll cook for her, or make a mixtape of your favorite songs, just to show her you’re interested in being actual good friends.
Lunch passes easily, as always you sit with Alva and the guys, and there’s enough people for you to stare at your mashed potatoes and repeatedly stab them with your fork instead of eating them. They taste like flour mixed up with water, and you dream up your father’s Sunday dinner instead, but it does little to help with the taste.
"So, you lookin’ forward to flirting with Miller in front of the whole lecture hall again?" Alva asks you, as you’re making your way to said room. You glare at her, but can’t help the corners of your mouth twitching.
"Wasn’t flirting with him," you answer, kicking a pebble, "I grew up across the street from him, I’ve known him practically my whole life."
"Whatever you say, grumpy," Alva teases, nudging your shoulder with hers. You’re overcome with a rush of gratitude for the way she treats you, persistently kind and humorous. You chuckle, your mood lifting slightly.
"He’s probably been waiting for you to turn legal," she continues, and you groan.
"Gross, Alva, he’s not a creep."
"I’m just saying, if your little connection gets you the answers to his tests, you could sell them and become rich."
"I already asked him, he said no," you say darkly, thinking of the nights you’ll have to spend studying to pass his exam. This makes Alva laugh her brilliant laugh, and you can’t help but smile, too.
"Damn," she grins, "I’d try if he wasn’t a guy."
You snort.
"You try with Professor Carter, I need the answers to Computational," you suggest, wiggling your eyebrows suggestively.
"You’re joking, but I bet once you get her out of her frumpy cardigans, she’s a real–"
"Okay, stop," you grown, the image of Professor Carter taking off her cardigans worse than her keeping them on – if possible. Alva giggles.
"I’ll help you with Computational," she says, "if you help me with Quantum Mechanics."
"You’re good at both," you argue, and Alva shrugs.
"Not like you, though. I spent like four hours doing Miller’s assignment last night."
You want to tell her you didn’t do it at all, but before you can open your mouth, she spots a friend in the crowd, grabs your arm and drags you over to him.
The three of you sit down together, closer to the front than the week before, which gives you a direct line of sight to Joel’s desk. When he walks in, your stomach jumps – he’s wearing a tie today, a dark burgundy or blue, you aren’t sure from this distance, flecked with specks of white. Again, his hair is styled in that carelessly disheveled look you like so much, and the image of him putting gel in it makes you smile. He gets out his materials for the lecture, and looks up, his eyes finding yours – you smile and he gives a small nod. Again you’re struck by how different he acts in front of the class, how serious he seems. You think of his laid back manner when you had coffee, and struggle to make the images align. Joel clears his throat, and the chatter around you stops.
"Quiet, please, everyone. Thank you. So, last week, we found out that Dirac’s equation predicts the existence of antiparticles. But instead of just accepting that, let’s think deeper—mathematically, what feature of the equation forces this conclusion?"
Joel jumps right into the lecture, and just like last week, nobody raises their hands – you curse the people around you for their lethargy, because sure enough, Joel’s eyes land on you. Before you can shake your head to signal to him not to ask you, he calls your name.
"If I remember correctly, you were already familiar with Dirac’s equation last week. What would you say, what does the existence of negative-energy solutions tell us, and why couldn’t we just ignore them?"
You wish you could answer him, know he asked you because he was sure you’d know the answer, perhaps hoped your enthusiasm for the subject would get the rest of the students to participate more, but you didn’t do the assignment, and you’ve already half forgotten his question. You swallow.
"Um…I…I’m not sure, Sir," you say, watching the way his brows furrow, and looking down at your notes. Alva shoots you a curious look, and when she sees your expression, she raises her hand. You’re thankful to have Joel’s attention diverted, feeling like a fool in front of hundreds of students you’re trying to make friends with.
"Dirac’s equation gives positive and negative energy solutions, and at first, the negative ones didn’t make sense. Dirac suggested they represent antiparticles, like the positron, which he predicted. The idea was that electrons could, like, jump into these negative-energy states, creating a hole that looks like a positron, which was later confirmed experimentally," Alva explains instead of you.
"You're close, but electrons don’t actually 'jump into' negative-energy states. Instead, Dirac proposed that these states are already filled, forming what he called the Dirac Sea. A positron isn’t an electron jumping down, it’s actually a 'hole' left when a negative-energy electron gets excited to a positive-energy state. That distinction is important because it explains why positrons have the opposite charge. Good answer, though, thank you Ms. Bennet."
Joel’s eyes flicker over to you again, but you show no reaction, and he continues with his lecture without asking you another question. Alva glances at you inquiringly, and you sigh.
"I wanted to do the assignment yesterday, but my cramps were really bad," you explain quietly, and she nods sympathetically.
"Call me next time, I’ll send you my answers," she whispers, and you smile gratefully. It seems you really hit the jackpot in friendship when you sat down next to Alva.
***
After Joel’s lecture, you and Alva make your way over to the vending machine, because it has the sour patches she likes, and in her own words she’ll combust if she doesn’t eat some right fucking now.
"Shit," she curses, "they’re stuck."
"Let me," a voice comes from a behind you, and when you turn around, Joel is smiling at the two of you. "Took me a while to figure this thing out, too."
Alva steps aside, and Joel bangs his palm against the side of machine. You jump, but the sour patches make their tumbling way down to the dispenser.
"Great! Thanks, Professor Miller," Alva says, ripping the bag open and offering it to the two of you. To your surprise, Joel takes her up on it, and Alva grins at you.
"You were quiet during today’s lecture," Joel says tentatively, when he’s swallowed his sour patch "everything alright?"
You glance at your shoes.
"Um, yeah. I wasn’t feeling well yesterday, and I left your assignment for last, so…I didn’t do it."
Joel’s expression grows worried, and Alva glances between the two of you.
"Hey, I’m meeting Max for coffee," she tells you, "see you later?"
"Yeah," you answer, grateful she’s granting you this time alone with Joel, "see you, Alva."
When she’s gone, Joel is still looking at you with that worried look on his face, and you sigh.
"Sorry about the assignment," you say, "won’t happen again."
"I’m not worried about the assignment," Joel says earnestly, but then he turns his head, and you know he doesn’t want someone listening in. Sure, you can be seen chatting in the university cafe, but this conversation is rapidly blurring the lines between scholarly and – something else.
"I…have some materials in my office that might make it easier for you to catch up with the lectures again," Joel tells you, and you understand the underlying meaning. Let’s talk in my office.
"Thank you," you say, relieved, and Joel nods, eyes still glued to yours, brows still furrowed. You walk to his office making smalltalk about the lecture, which to anyone listening in would seem like a normal conversation between a professor and an interested student.
Joel opens the door to his office for you, and lets you step in first. It’s small, cramped bookshelves on the walls and a sturdy desk in the middle that is littered with notes, pencils, books, and a couple of old coffee mugs. You notice he put part of his books sideways onto the shelves, which you find weirdly endearing. This is the Joel you know – clutter and warmth.
He closes the door behind you, and you turn around to watch him drop his bag and walk over to the kettle in the corner of the room.
"Coffee?"
"Please," you sigh, "if you don’t have anything stronger."
He raises an eyebrow, but doesn’t answer, just turns on the already filled kettle, and gets two clean cups for the two of you.
"I only have drip coffee," he tells you, "I don’t drink that crap the machines brew up."
"That’s fine, I enjoy the medieval feel of it."
"Watch it," he answers, a smile tugging on his lips, "don’t insult my coffee filter in front of me."
You grin, and walk over to his bookshelf to have a look.
"So, what’s going on?" he asks you while pouring the boiling hot water over the coffee grounds. Again, the Joel you remember – empathetic, but unusually direct. You sigh, turn around and shrug.
"Mom and Dad called yesterday, and I could tell they missed me, but I just…I cut them off after two minutes."
Joel places the cups on his desk, and leans against it. His sleeves are rolled up again, and when he crosses his arms, you feel that familiar pang in your stomach.
"And now I…I don’t know, I feel so guilty, Joel. They’re not even being dicks about it, but I just know they’d prefer for me to check in with them more…and the worst thing is, I know it’s not a big deal. They’ll get over it, they’ve got a good life without me constantly in it, so I don’t know why my stupid brain can’t just let this go, you know? One I miss you, darling, and I’m reduced to this pathetic mess, instead of just, I don’t know, getting my shit together."
You shake your head and clench your teeth, once again embarrassed to come crying to Joel about your parental issues, but he’s the only one you can tell. Sure, Alva would probably listen, but you don’t feel like explaining your family to a near stranger. Joel just gets it. Joel knows you.
He’s looking at you, arms still crossed, and for a second you worry he might not want to hear about your little breakdown, but then he sighs.
"You have your shit together all of the fuckin’ time, kid, I think that might be the problem," he tells you quietly. "You’ve always been so hard on yourself."
He’s right, once again he sees what you struggle to show the world, and his words make tears spring to your eyes. You will your eyeballs to suck them back in, but of course, Joel sees.
"Hey now," he says, taking a tentative step towards you. One tear drops from the end of your lashes and down your cheek, and the dam is broken again – they come spilling in floods. Joel crosses the room in a second, and there is a slight moment of hesitation between the two of you, before you bury your face in his chest, and let your restraint fall. You cry quietly, feel him wrap his arms around you, as he rocks you back and forth.
"You’re alright," he tells you, "Shhh, it’s okay, you’re alright."
"S-s-sorry about the assignment," you manage, and Joel’s hand starts stroking your back.
"Jesus, kid, stop worryin’ about the fucking assignment," he tells you, voice low and worried. "You don’t gotta be so strict with yourself. You’re doin’ just fine."
He smells so much like home, you think you might never stop crying.
"I don’t know what’s wrong with me," you hiccup, "One week here and I’m a mess already."
You feel Joel rest his chin on your head, and his arms tighten around you.
"There’s nothin’ wrong with you, you hear me? You hold yourself to high standards. Creates pressure, kid."
As always, he’s right of course – you want to excel academically, you don’t want to hurt your parents, you want to stay true to yourself and do what makes you happy, you want to make friends without compromising your grades. It’s impossible.
You breathe in shakily, your eyes closed, face buried in Joel’s chest, and for a second he is all that exists – just Joel, all around you, pulling you to the earth. Slowly, your breathing calms, Joel still rocking you soothingly, holding you close.
"There we go," he mutters, when your chest stops shaking, "that’s good."
When you pull away from him, he puts his hands on your shoulders to really look at you, and although you’re embarrassed by your outburst, you’re glad he doesn’t shy away from you.
"I want you to start being a little more lenient with yourself, alright? You don’t need to worry about an assignment on top of everything."
His hands are rubbing your shoulders, his eyes are kind and warm.
"Maybe not about yours, but I have like five other lectures –"
"Okay, so try to stop worrying about my assignments, just mine. Won’t bite your head off if you don’t do them, and I’ll only ask you questions when you raise your hand, alright? In fact, for the rest of the term, I want you to hand them in late."
Despite yourself, your lips pull up in a small smile.
"That’s silly, Joel," you say softly, but he shakes his head.
"It’s not silly, it’s practice to get you out of your comfort zone."
You consider his words for a moment. You do keep a pretty tight reign on yourself, and just the thought of doing every assignment late makes your skin crawl with anxiety. But when will you get another chance to step out of your comfort zone as safely as now, with Joel? He’s offering you a way to try it without actually risking your grades. And who knows, perhaps it actually will take a little bit of pressure off of you.
"Okay," you answer, staring up at Joel with puffy cheeks and teary eyes. "Alright."
He smiles at you, but he still looks worried and you wish he’d pull you close to him again. It’s such a relief to have this sort of human contact with someone who really knows you.
"Feel better?"
You sigh, and nod.
"It’s just a lot, you know, uni and my parents, and every social interaction feels like such a chore, cause I don’t know people yet. I feel like I’m not even relaxed when I’m asleep."
Joel hesitates for a moment, before he speaks, but when he does, he sounds determined.
"Come over tonight, I’ll make us somethin’ to eat, and you don’t have to worry about talkin’ to anyone. We’ll watch whatever you’d like. You still enjoy those crappy horror movies?"
You smile at the shared memory – Joel letting you use his living room to watch slashers your parents didn’t want you to see. One summer, when the heat was so stifling you barely went outside, you practically lived at his place, and when you’d seen all the DVDs he owned, he got you more from the video store.
"I do," you say quietly, the fact that Joel remembers more important to you than his proposal to spend the evening together. You feel significantly less alone, all of a sudden.
"Alright, then. Be over at seven,“ Joel tells you, and you nod, wiping your wet face with the back of your hand.
"Thank you, Joel," you say, and hug him again, because you don’t know how to tell him in words what you’re feeling, and his big, warm body against yours feels more than soothing.
"Course, kid. Just don’t tell Alva, or they’ll fire me."
You smile, your arms still wrapped around his neck, as he holds you.
"But I don’t wanna get you in trouble, what if–"
"No," Joel interrupts you, "no what ifs. No worryin’. I forbid it."
And you accept it, leave it to Joel, because he tells you to – because you don’t have any room in your head for more worries, and because you trust Joel not to do anything reckless. You trust him, period.
***
You text Alva you’re having dinner alone, that your cramps are still acting up, and you do feel slightly bad for lying, but you would never risk Joel’s job. The idea of having dinner with him at his place should make you nervous after your change in feelings about him, but you’re just looking forward to having a meal with someone who knows you, and lets you be yourself.
Joel asked you to be there at seven, so you spend the rest of the afternoon in your dorm room, wondering if you should change your outfit or if it would seem desperate – in the end, you keep the jeans but change into a blouse instead of a sweater. The part of you that stares at Joel’s forearms during class now wants to look pretty for him, so that he’ll ask you over again. You know you’re being ridiculous, but it doesn’t stop you from putting on your nicest perfume.
You’re ten minutes early, so you sit in your little second hand car and try not to panic. You know Joel is merely trying to be a good…friend? Ex-neighbor, Dad’s best friend turned professor? There’s no real etiquette to cling to in this situation, for either of you, and although you’re positive Joel doesn’t have any ulterior motives with you despite his flirting, you know he could lose his job if someone finds out you went to his house. Even if you just watch slashers together the way you did ten years ago. It makes you anxious to know he’d risk something clearly important to him for just that – he moved to a different state, quit his old job, started over completely, and is now willing to endanger that new life just because you’re stressed. At the same time it seems ridiculous anyone could forbid the two of you to spend time together after having known each other your entire life. The thought is absurd, and still, you need to be careful.
You get out of the car before you start to hyperventilate, and ring Joel’s doorbell – it feels strange for him to live in a new house. He opens the door with a smile, and absurd relief floods your veins when you realize he’s wearing an old Led Zeppelin shirt and a pair of worn jeans. This is your Joel.
"I come bearing gifts," you announce, stepping into the house.
“Christ, where did you get this?”, Joel asks, taking the six pack of beer from you, so you can take off your jacket. “I didn’t know they sold Shiner Bock outside of Texas, I’ve been survivin’ on Bud”.
“Brought it with me,” you explain, “figured it’d help if I got homesick, you know, in multiple ways.”
You grin, and Joel shakes his head good-naturedly.
“Old enough to drink, well I’ll be damned. I remember when you begged your Dad to let you have a coke and he asked me if I thought the caffeine would stunt your growth.”
“Did it?”
“It might’ve,” Joel says with a chuckle, “but he didn’t let you have it.”
“Well, he isn’t here now, so let’s put those in the fridge.”
“No," Joel mutters, “no, he ain’t.”
While Joel puts the beer away, you take a look around his living room – despite your reservations about the new house, it reminds you of his old place. It’s got the same masculine and warm feel to it, dark wood, books all over the place, no bells and whistles. Joel is a practical man, and it’s charmingly etched into every part of his life – except for his new work-look. The room isn’t as cluttered as you remember Joel’s old house back in Texas, but you assume he hasn’t had time to accumulate clutter yet. No old newspapers are lying around, no birthday cards stacking up. You wonder if he’s lonely here, teaching all by himself, hundreds of miles away from the place he last grew roots in.
“Do you miss home?” you ask him, when he comes back from the kitchen with two bottles of beer in his hands. He looks at ease, much more himself than back at university. His jeans are faded, his shirt a little too big on his already broad frame, and his hair is clean and curly the way you like it – no gel twisting it into all sorts of un-Joel-like styles. Warmth floods your chest at the sight of him taking a swig of his beer. His crowfeet are a little more pronounced, and his hair has more grey strands than it did back home, but he’s still got that distinctly warm, no-nonsense feel to him.
“Sometimes,” he answers, offering you the second bottle. Your hand brushes his when you take it from him. “But I’m pretty busy here, you know, got a whole lotta lectures to plan, papers to grade and that sort of stuff.”
You nod, and sip at your beer.
“Have you…you know, met people? Made friends here?”
Joel plops down on the couch, and smiles up at you.
“You worried about my social life?”
You shrug, and smile almost timidly.
“You know me, kid, I like bein’ by myself.”
That’s true, for as long as you’ve known Joel, he’s been alone. You know he has nieces and nephews who adore him, and your Dad mentioned a woman once, but it must have been at least twenty years since they were together. You wonder why Joel doesn’t seem to want that sort of a domestic life, surely many women would be happy to let him put a ring on them.
You walk over to the window, and watch a blackbird tug at a writhing worm.
“Have you met someone at uni you wanna be by yourself with?” you ask with a small grin, turning back to find Joel already watching you. “I heard Professor Carter’s still single.”
“She’s very intelligent,” Joel says earnestly. You give him credit for not laughing about his colleague, and suddenly you feel bad for calling her frumpy with Alva. “But I think I’ll leave her to her simulations. Why am I bein’ interrogated?”
“Sorry,” you mumble, and glance out of the window again, “just making conversation.”
“Your turn, then,” Joel answers, and takes another swig of beer. “Any frat boys catch your eye? Or frat girls?”
You glance at him, a smile on your lips, and raise your eyebrows.
“Hey, I don’t discriminate. I thought, maybe Alva…”
“No,” you answer, feeling fond of him for considering the possibility. “Alva’s a friend. The guys are…well, they’re frat boys.”
Your voice carries enough disgust for Joel to laugh.
“Right,” he says, and his eyes are warm when they meet yours again. “Just us two loners, then."
“Cheers,” you say with a smile.
“Cheers.”
***
Joel’s cooking is a mystery to you – he loves to eat, and when he does cook, it’s always delicious, but he only ever makes one of five dishes. Again, that practicality shining through. Why try something new if you’ve perfected your routine? He made pasta for you, wasn’t sure if you’re still vegetarian and makin’ your Dad’s hair fall out, and you smile into the neck of your beer bottle, when you watch him drizzle dressing onto a carefully arranged side-salad. Throughout dinner, you tell him how much you love it at least five times, because you can tell he put effort into the meal. You know it’s not technically a date, but having a dinner he made just for you, in his home – it feels like one.
You steer the conversation away from heavy topics like your parents. Although Joel offered you this evening to make you feel better, you want to spend it with him rather than in your head, so you ask him about books and music, about his lectures, about Tommy and the kids. You like watching how his face lights up whenever he talks about something he particularly loves. Joel is a quiet man, but you found out years ago it isn’t shyness, but a disinterest in most mundane topics – he doesn’t like gossip or superficial small talk. When he tells you Tommy made him godfather of all of his children, the pride is evident in his voice, and you don’t have to fake your enthusiasm, although it amuses you, too – Tommy loving his big brother enough not to consider anyone else.
"She calls me uncle Joe," he tells you with a chuckle, "Can’t pronounce her Ls yet, but I’ve considered legally changing my name."
When you’re done eating, you help him clear the table, but when you reach for the sponge to do the dishes, Joel shakes his head.
"Let me do that later, kid. You wanna watch a movie?"
So the two of you plop down on the couch with a bag of M&Ms and another round of beer, and Joel hands you the remote.
"Go wild," he says, chuckling when you excitedly turn on he TV to open Netflix.
"Wow, a streaming service? I thought you’d just hoard DVDs for the rest of your life."
Joel huffs, and instead of answering, he leans forward, and reaches for something under his couch table. When he turns his head, he’s got glasses on his face, thick-rimmed and black, and so startlingly sexy, you almost drop the remote.
"You…you’ve got glasses?"
"Yeah," he answers, his eyes meeting yours, and you swallow. "When your eyesight deteriorates, that’s when you know you’re gettin’ old."
You hum but don’t answer, just hold his gaze for a second and look back to the screen. You try to ignore the familiar pang in your stomach at the sight of Joel in his new glasses, and skip through movie after movie, mumbling seen it, seen it, that one sucks, seen it, until Joel reaches over and snatches the remote from you.
"Hey–"
"I can’t read anything if you skip through them that quickly."
"You’re not supposed to read, you’re supposed to go with the vibe of the cover."
He glances at you with furrowed brows.
"Okay, sorry, didn’t know you’re a filmbro," you grumble, but it’s almost entirely fake – you couldn’t be annoyed with him, not when he pushes his glasses up his nose, and carefully considers which button to press on the remote.
"I don’t know what that means," he answers, and starts reading the description of a romantic comedy about Christmas.
"I’m not watching that."
"You don’t even know what it’s about."
"It’s September, Joel."
He huffs again, but finally reaches the horror movies. Surprisingly, it doesn’t take the two of you long to pick one, and the thought of two hours of brainless, scary entertainment on a couch with Joel makes you practically melt into his couch.
You can feel Joel’s eyes on you during the opening credits, so you glance over and he smiles.
"Comfy?" he asks, his voice hoarse from relaxation.
"Yeah," you answer, and smile when hands you a blanket. He’s not exactly close to you, but it still feels a little intimate when you spread the blanket out and offer him the other end. He moves over a little, so that the blanket covers his legs, and when you concentrate you can feel his body heat next to you, so you try hard not to – and instead get lost in the movie.
It’s not particularly good, but the story does get under your skin a little, and when there’s an unexpected shriek, you violently jump and instinctively move closer to Joel. He chuckles, but doesn’t give any reaction to your arm suddenly pressing against his. He doesn’t move away, either, so you don’t, fear suddenly not being the only thing bubbling up in your stomach.
"Jesus," you mumble, the creeping music making you anticipate another jumpscare. You’re right, it does come, but prepared though you are, you still wince, and turn away from the screen slightly. Out of sight, out of mind. Joel turns around, too, and when he sees your widened eyes, he grins.
"How’s that Christmas movie lookin’ now?"
"I’m not scared," you say, and there is some truth to it, "I’m just not good with jumpscares."
When the next one comes, you can’t help it, you clutch his arm next to you, your nails digging into his firm muscle, and Joel glances at you again.
"Sorry," you say quickly, letting go of his forearm now marked with five tiny crescent shapes. "Jesus, Joel, sorry."
"It’s fine," he says, and the amusement is evident in his voice, "you sure you’re into this? There might be some cartoons–"
He stops talking when you glare at him, but his mouth is twitching under his beard. You’re determined to watch the entire movie, and you try not to let any reaction show, wanting to prove Joel wrong.
There is one particularly scary scene – it’s not necessarily violent, but the music and shaky camera movements make your pulse race, and you turn your head slightly, so as to look at something else. Joel glances at you again, but he doesn’t laugh this time, just puts a heavy hand on your shoulder. It’s grounding, the warmth of it, how his thumb digs into your muscle and his fingers spread out over your back and neck.
"You don’t gotta force yourself to watch this, kid," Joel says gently, all teasing humor gone.
"No," you say stubbornly, but move even closer to him. His touch is a welcome distraction from the movie, and although you know it’s stupid and reckless, you lean into him, and Joel puts his arm around you. It’s closer than you’ve been to him except for hugging, and your heartbeat starts to quicken for all the wrong, non-horror reasons. When you flinch, Joel tugs you against his side, and it feels natural to hide your face in his shoulder.
He was never touchy with you, or anyone for that matter, so something must have changed. You wonder if he’s trying to comfort you, or if you might not be the only one who can feel that strange pull between the two of you.
When the movie ends, Joel regrettably removes his arm from around your shoulders to switch off the TV, and although you’re slightly disappointed, you scold yourself for expecting something else.
"Not bad," Joel says with a small smile, and pushes his glasses up his nose. "Very brave."
You scoff, but feel the corners of your mouth twitching, too.
"I used to be less of a wimp, but I guess you soften with age."
"You’re twenty-three," Joel argues, "that’s young."
Yeah, too young. Too young to lean over and kiss him, or climb into his lap, or expect anything other than paternal care when he’s got his arm around you. You look at your lap, all of a sudden feeling stupid and silly for having dreamed up an absurd fantasy about the man in front of you.
"Hey," Joel says gently, "what’s wrong?"
"Nothing," you say quickly, "nothing, I had a really great evening. Thanks, Joel."
You can tell you’ve confused him, but he nods, doesn’t question your sudden change of mood, and stands when you get up from the couch.
"Anytime, kid. You call me if you’re havin’ a bad time, alright? My door’s always open."
He’s so kind, so recklessly, stupidly, lovingly kind, and all of it is directed at you. You curse yourself for it, but again you feel that familiar burn in your eyes. Joel reaches out and easily pulls you towards his big body, hugging you the way he did in his office just this afternoon. He doesn’t ask you what brought on your tears, just lets you cry into his Led Zeppelin shirt that smells so much like home, like a childhood you won’t get back to. You remember whiffs of that smell when you were watching movies on his couch while he was at work, too pissed off at your parents to spend the summer at home. This scent was there when you attended a neighborhood barbecue after fighting with your father and Joel grilled some vegan sausages for you without comment or question. He’s always looked out for you like this, quietly, without demanding an explanation, just a solid, comforting presence in your life.
Your tears stop after a couple of minutes, and you take a step away from Joel, wiping your face. He looks so worried again, brows all furrowed and arms hanging limply at his side. Didn’t he flirt with you, though? Didn’t he prepare dinner for you the way a date would, ask you about your dating life, ask you to coffee? You don’t think you would be able to handle another evening like this one not knowing what Joel really thinks, so in a moment of hazy recklessness, you lean up.
His eyes meet yours, all warm and strangely unguarded, but before your lips brush his, a hand on your shoulder stops you. Without saying something, you move away from him, and nod to yourself, his reaction all the information you needed.
"Sorry," you say very quietly, not managing much else now that you’ve humiliated yourself in front of the only person you really know in a six hundred mile radius. Joel runs a hand through his soft hair, and inhales deeply.
"No," he says, his voice a little strained, "no, don’t be. I just…Jesus, kid."
He rubs his palm over his beard in such a familiar way, your chest aches a little. It’s ridiculous how much you want to touch his face, to feel him again, skin on skin. So you don’t turn and run the way your embarrassed heart is telling you to, just watch him collect his thoughts, standing in front of him like a wet and beaten dog.
"Look," he begins, "I won’t say I’m not flattered, but that’s…it’s a bad fuckin’ idea. It’s…it’s chaos, and on top of that most people would argue it’s wrong."
You swallow. You know all of this, have turned it over in your head ever since you stared at Joel’s rolled up sleeves for two hours on that first Monday, but hearing him say it makes your stomach churn.
"Yeah," you mutter, and trace Joel’s shadow with the very tip of your foot, "yeah, of course. Sorry I put you in that position, wasn’t right."
Your face still feels puffy, and you know you’re probably all red and pathetic looking, begging Joel for scraps of his attention, but all of a sudden, he lifts his hand up to your face, and cups it in his broad palm. His thumb strokes your cheek, and when you meet his eye, the expression on his face is tender.
"It’s alright," he tells you softly, "I can see you worryin’ at the speed of light in that pretty head of yours."
Something in your chest flutters at his words, at the rough and warm cadence of his voice. He reads you so easily, one turn of your head and he knows you’re lost to your thoughts.
"I shouldn’t have let myself toy with this idea," he continues, and your stomach flips. "I should’ve realized you’d pick up on it. It’s on me, alright? It’s on me not to start anythin’."
You can hear the implication – I’m the adult here. It’s not what you want to hear, but just the mention of Joel toying with this idea, as he put it, is enough to lift your spirits. So you weren’t crazy.
"I’m an adult," you say weakly, never having felt more like a child. Joel nods.
"You are, but I’m still in a position of power here. Be wrong, to abuse that."
His thumb is still moving over your cheek slowly, making it hard to think straight.
"So dinner and a movie doesn’t abuse it?"
You don’t want to argue, you don’t know why you keep disagreeing with him, and the way his face falls, you wish you hadn’t said it.
"No, it…it does, you’re right. Jesus, of course it does. I don’t blame ya for bein’ ang-"
"I’m not angry," you say softly, and tentatively turn your head in Joel’s hand. You press a kiss to his palm, his warm skin pressed right against your mouth. "I’m not your student, Joel. I mean, of course I am, but I know you. It’s different."
Joel’s eyes are glued to your face, and he looks so conflicted you wish he’d just throw you out of his house, if only to solve his dilemma.
"It’s still wrong," Joel mutters, his eyes glued to your lips since they brushed his skin "even if you take away the fact that I’m your fuckin’ professor. Your Dad…"
"My Dad is half a continent away and finds a way to be unhappy with whatever choices I make, so I might as well make the ones I want to."
The very first day, before you even met Joel, you decided to do what makes you happy while in university, and although this certainly wasn’t what you had in mind, you know it’s what you want. The only thing you want, in fact.
Joel sighs, and tucks a strand of hair behind your ear.
"Joel, I’m not trying to…look, if I’m wrong about this, just tell me, but I feel…I just wanna be close to you all of the fucking time," you say quietly, "and it’s okay if you don’t, really. I just…I want you to know it’s not nothing to me."
Saying I don’t just want to hook up with you would feel too straight forward or crass, but you think Joel gets the gist of what you’re trying to say, and he closes his eyes briefly. You study his face behind his glasses, the wrinkles and freckles from years in the sun. You do feel anxious about his answer, but whatever it is, you’re glad you told him. It’s out in the world now, the way you feel when he holds you, and he can do with it what he pleases – you’ve handed him the reigns.
"I…I know what you mean. Me too," he says very quietly after a beat, his eyes open and looking directly into yours again.
A triumphant pang of affection pulses through you, and you put your hand over Joel’s, which is still resting on your cheek. He looks conflicted, but his other hand holds your waist now, and tugs your smaller body closer to his again. He’s solid as a brick wall in front of you, and you figure you’re allowed to touch, so you rest your hand on his shoulder.
"What am I gonna do with you?" Joel mutters, and strokes your lower lip with his thumb. If you had more guts, you’d let it slip into your mouth, but you’re still afraid he’ll pull back if you make a wrong move, so you just let him caress your mouth tenderly.
"Whatever you’d like," you answer just as quietly, and you know it sounds sexual, but you mean it in every way – if Joel wants to be nothing but your professor, you’d take it, and if he wants to keep you here in his house indefinitely, you’d let him. Joel keeps looking at you, taking you in as if he’s considering whether the risks outweigh whatever magnetic or gravitational pull the two of you have between you.
"Stay," he say after a while, and although his face looks slightly regretful, his voice is determined, "just…sleep here tonight. I like havin’ you here."
You want him to kiss you, to pull you onto his lap on the couch, to take you upstairs right now, but Joel seems to be restraining himself, so you just nod.
"Me too," you whisper, echoing his words back to him, and for just a second, his thumb digs into your lip a little harder, but then he pulls away.
"Testin’ my goddamn restraint," he mutters, and takes a step away from you. "I’ll get you something to sleep in."
***
Joel gets you one of his band tees you love so dearly, and just the idea of being enveloped by something that smells like him all night makes it a little easier when Joel tells you he’ll take the couch instead of inviting you to sleep with him in his bed.
"No," you say softly, "it’s fine, you just sleep in your bed, Joel. I’ll take the couch."
He looks critical, so you offer him a soft smile.
"I don’t know if your back could take it," you tease, and he seems torn up between laughing and frowning. In the end, he just shakes his head, mutters something that sounds a lot like bad fuckin’ idea, and gets you a blanket and pillow.
He brings you a clean toothbrush and towel, let’s you use his bathroom (you look at the shower the entire time you’re brushing your teeth, trying hard not to think about what Joel looks like using it in the mornings), and when you’re done changing, you unlock the door again.
He’s there, sitting on the edge of his bed, his eyes trailing over your form in his much too big shirt. It’s long as a dress on you, coming down to your naked thighs. Joel visibly swallows and gets up from the bed.
"You got everythin’ you need?"
"Yes. Thank you, Joel."
There’s a beat of silence and you almost think Joel’s about to cross the room, but he just runs his palm over his beard the way he always does, and nods.
"Alright. Just shout if there’s…well, you know. I’ll be here."
"I will."
"Alright. Okay…goodnight, kid."
"Night," you almost whisper, voice soft, and right before you reach the door, Joel clears his throat.
"I…you were right about dinner and the movie. I wasn’t just tryin’ to be friendly," he says quietly, and your stomach swirls. Before you can walk over to Joel and do something about it, he sighs.
"Sleep tight, sweetheart."
Sweetheart.
***
You wake to the sound of something dripping, and when your eyes flutter open, you can see Joel’s back from the kitchen. He’s wearing his work outfit again, a white button down and dark pants, sleeves rolled up. It smells like coffee, and with a smile you realize he must be brewing his beloved coffee – no machine, just a filter. He looks broad, even from your spot on the couch, and you enjoy peeking in on him. You study his movements, the way he reaches for a cup, how his fingers absentmindedly drum on the kitchen counter while he waits.
When he turns around, his eyes find yours, and he smiles.
"Mornin’. Did I wake ya?"
"’S fine," you yawn, pulling the blanket up to your chin, not yet ready to get up. "I have classes at ten anyway."
"’S eight," Joel tells you, "Coffee?"
"Yes please," you answer, and stretch your limbs under the blanket.
Joel brings you a cup, complete with a little bit of milk and sugar, and you move your feet so he can sit down on the couch.
"Sleep well?"
You sip your coffee, let it burn your tongue and close your eyes at the taste. When you open them, Joel’s gaze lingers on your face.
"Yeah," you answer, "thank you for…you know."
He nods, takes a sip of his coffee, and looks at his lap. He looks like he wants to say something, but he’s very quiet, and you feel anxiety bubbling up in your stomach.
"Joel, do you want me to leave? It’s fine if you do," you ask him softly, not wanting to make things awkward for him. It would be rational of him to ask you to leave, the smart and ethical thing to do.
"No," he answers quietly, still not looking at you, "I want you to stay."
Stay? On a Tuesday morning, after you almost kissed him and he told you he couldn’t do that, after you spent the night on his couch? When you have classes in two hours, haven’t showered yet, are half naked and wearing his clothes, on his couch under his blanket? When you’ve got friends wondering where you are and probably ten unanswered messages from Alva?
"Alright," you say, agreeing as easy as breathing.
Finally, he looks up, and his expression is so conflicted you reach out for him. Your hand finds his and you squeeze it. He keeps looking at you, his hand limp in your grasp, as if any movement of his muscles would incriminate him.
"You shouldn’t," he tells you earnestly. "Stay, I mean. You shouldn’t stay."
"I know."
You don’t let go of his hand. He doesn’t move his away.
"It’s a really, really bad idea," he adds, and you’re not sure who he is trying to talk out of whatever this is. "It’s risky. Could blow up both our lives."
"Yeah," you say, and watch him sip his coffee, "okay."
Then, a tentative flex of his fingers against yours, and finally, he’s squeezing your hand just as tightly, and before you can process what that means, Joel is leaning over you, dangerously close. Your breathing quickens, you register how soft his hair looks, how strong his hand is. He leans in further and you sit up a little, still cocooned in his blanket. His face is close to yours, his eyes fiery with something you can’t pinpoint, and you sigh, when he closes the gap between you.
He tastes of coffee and toothpaste, and you wish you’d gotten the chance to shower, but the thought disappears almost immediately when you hear Joel groan. His kisses you languidly, deeply, and your fingers come up to his beautiful arm, barely wrapping around half of his biceps. He cradles the side of your face, pulls you closer, makes your stomach clench with need. It feels inevitable, the way he touches you, like you only exist in a physical form to be touched by him.
His free hand peels the blanket off your body, lets it slide to the floor without ever stopping his the kiss, and you moan softly, when his hand touches your waist. The sound makes him break away, stare down at you, pupils blown wide.
"Fuck, you look good in my clothes," he mutters, nudging your jaw with his nose, and pressing a kiss there. "You should really, really go home."
Your head falls back slightly to give him better access to your neck, and he brushes his lips over your pulse point. Your heart skips a beat.
"I – I know," you breathe, fingers digging into his arm. His beard scratches your skin deliciously, and it takes everything in you not to whimper or beg. Joel’s hand slips under your shirt – his shirt – and instead of finding your waist again, he digs his thumb into your hip, stroking the fabric of your cotton panties. The fire in your stomach burns brighter, and you almost buck up into him. Joel Miller, the Joel Miller who until recently had a key to your childhood home, who lent it to you whenever you forgot yours inside – he’s sucking bruises into your skin, and toying with your panties. It’s dizzying, his familiar voice when he hums in satisfaction, even rougher than usually.
His fingers trace the waistband of your panties towards the front, until they find a small, silky bow, and Joel groans. He doesn’t take your underwear off, doesn’t even touch you where you need him the most, just keeps playing with the little bow, until your hips twitch without your permission. A little lower, and he would be able to feel how wet you are, how wet you have been all night. You didn’t do anything about it, not while you were a guest in his house. It would have felt wrong. You can’t imagine anything feeling more right than Joel’s mouth and hands on you, though.
"Jesus," Joel curses, "I should stop bef–"
"No," you whine, all dignity turned to hot air by Joel’s fingers, "please, Joel, please don’t stop."
He curses again, and moves his big body so that he’s not just hovering above you, but actually on top of you, your thighs falling open for him easily. At the movement, his shirt hikes up your thighs, and you know you’re basically on display for him, your soaked underwear leaving little to the imagination. He’s still fully clothed, his perfect button down all wrinkled now.
"Look at you," Joel breathes, lightheaded with desire, "this all for me?"
So he saw, when you moved to accommodate his broad form, saw how soaked you are, knows you ruined your panties just because he kissed you.
"Yes," you breathe, "yes, please–"
Before you can beg further, his finger presses down on your clit, and he watches your face contort in pleasure, as it shoots up your spine. You whimper, staring into his eyes, and he stares right back, as you start to grind your hips against his palm.
Your head feels blissfully empty, all worries about this relationship, uni, your parents, gone from you with a simple, practiced movement of his hand. The whimpers keep falling from your lips, and Joel curses.
"So beautiful," he mutters, "tell me what you need, angel."
It’s not a question, it’s an order.
"I – fuck, I need you i–inside," you groan, and Joel’s lips find yours again.
"Yeah? Need me to fuck you good, even though they’ll throw us both out?"
It shouldn’t turn you on. You’re jeopardizing both your own and Joel’s career, and he’s turning it into dirty talk. Still, your pussy doesn’t lie, and the way it throbs for him, aching to get him inside, makes all doubts disappear from your mind.
"Yes," you answer, unable to say much more as Joel keeps drawing tight circles into your clit.
Your hands drift from his arms towards his front, and Joel curses, when you paw at his belt buckle. It takes you a second, but then it’s open, the sound of the metal exciting you – it sounds like a promise.
Joel finally tugs your panties down, and for a second you’re self–conscious about not being clean shaven, but the second he sees you bare and glistening for him, his fingers dip into your folds, gathering your wetness with no hesitation.
"Fuck me," he groans, bringing his hand up to his face and tasting you, holding eye–contact the entire time, "prettiest pussy I’ve seen in my life."
You twitch under him, dragging your gaze away from his eyes and to his fingers. A moan escapes you, your hands have gone slack on his waistband, and Joel smiles down at you. Then, he does the same motion again, drags the tips of his thick fingers through your sticky arousal, but instead of sucking them clean himself, he holds them up to your mouth. His eyes burn, when you wrap your lips around them without a moments hesitation, and he feeds you your own slick.
"Taste so sweet, huh?"
You don’t answer, just swirl your tongue around his fingers, and suck on them. Joel watches your mouth intently, lets you take your time.
"Good girl," he praises you, and you clench around nothing, "so fuckin’ needy for me."
He drags his fingers from your mouth, and finally pushes into you, the stretch much tighter than with two of your own. Your head falls backwards, and Joel curls his fingers.
"No, baby, look down here," he orders, and immediately you lift your head again, and watch him pump two thick digits in and out of you. It’s dizzying to think it’s the same hand that waved to you from over his fence for years and years. You feel a coil building in your stomach, and you moan.
"Fuck, Joel," you moan, his name leaving a delicious aftertaste in your mouth. His beautiful forearm flexes with every movement, your slick is dripping down his fingers, and those damn sleeves are still perfectly rolled up.
With a few more curls of his fingers, you gush around him, barely having time to warn him, and he praises you, calls you his good girl, drags his fingers against that spongey spot inside of you until you see stars.
When he slips his fingers out of you and holds them up to your face again, you clean them up with your mouth as Joel watches with bright eyes. To think that he’s the same man who taught you Dirac not twenty-four hours ago – already, you want him inside again. When you’re done, he fumbles with his own clothes, and you watch him this time instead of helping.
"You look so good like this," you mumble, eyes raking over his broad form, "Professor."
His eyes snap up to yours, and you grin.
"Fuckin’ Christ, kid," he mutters, popping open the buttons on his shirt, "you can’t say shit like that."
"You don’t like it? You know, I watched you during your lectures and dreamed about…well, about this."
His expression is unreadable, but if you’re not mistaken, his hands move even faster now, and then he shrugs out of his shirt. You almost moan at the sight of his naked torso, so broad and solid.
"You need to pay attention in class," Joel answers, as he opens his pants. Your breathing grows a little shallow when he reveals his boxers underneath, his bulge huge.
"Can’t," you mumble, "not with you looking like this."
He chuckles at that, at the honesty and need in your answer.
"Don’t worry," he says softly, "I’ll fuck it outta you. Won’t be needing’ me in class, not if I’m still leakin’ out of you."
Your lips part, your pussy clenches – a smile tugs on the corners of Joel’s mouth at your reaction. He drags down his boxer shorts, and your eyes snap towards his cock, so thick and dripping in precum. You whimper, you can’t help it, and Joel’s smile widens.
"We’ll make it fit, baby," he says, reading your mind, and then bends down and kisses you again. You try to tug your shirt upwards, but Joel’s hands find your wrists and he holds them tight.
"No, want to fuck you in it," he breathes against your lips, and you press your hips upwards until he groans. He pumps his fist over his cock a couple of times, and aligns it with your entrance.
"Deep breath, baby," he mutters, and you obey, staring up at him as he starts pressing into you. It’s tight, much tighter than his two fingers, and your eyes glass over with pain, but Joel goes slow. His hand strokes your tummy, helps you relax, while he pushes on consistently. You feel like he’s punching the air from your lungs, eyes wide with the stretch of him, as he nips at your jaw and neck to distract you.
"Know it’s a lot, but you can take it, angel."
"Y-yes," you moan, and screw your eyes shut, "please don’t stop, Joel."
Joel’s breathing is ragged with restraint, and suddenly his hips snap forwards – and he’s fully buried inside of your tight body, nestled right against your cervix.
"Back to Joel, are we?" he teases, and gives you a couple of seconds to get used to him. You whimper and claw at his arm.
"I – ah – I’ll call you Professor Miller ’f you want," you slur, as he starts dragging his cock out of you again. You tremble under him, the feeling almost more intense than when he pushed inside of you.
"Yeah? That get you off? Or – fuck–  is it the fact that I’m friends with your parents?"
It really, really should be a turn off, to be talking about your parents right now, but the way Joel says it, the way he points out just how debauched it is what you’re doing – you can’t help but moan. You blush, too, can feel the heat in your face, but you’re tired of being ashamed of wanting him the way you do.
"Both," you answer, and this time Joel groans, his hips snapping into you at a rougher pace. The head of his cock hits your spot every time, and you let out little sounds of pleasure with every drag of his cock, unable to form a coherent sentence. Joel’s hand finds your clit again, rubbing circles as his other one pressing down on your stomach.
"Feel that?" he asks you, and you do, you feel him all up in your guts, "you take it so well baby, take all ’f me."
"Yes," you answer, eyes glassy with pleasure, "want all of you, Joel."
He bites your shoulder, keeps rutting into you, and soon you feel another orgasm building.
"Close – ah – so close," you whimper, and Joel speeds up his thrusts just slightly. You clench around him, right on the edge.
"Come for me, angel, give it to me."
You do, your hips bucking, back arching.
"Ah – fuck, Joel, Prof–"
"Say it," Joel orders, fucking you through the waves of pleasure.
"Professor."
He comes, too, twitching deep inside of you and spilling rope after rope of come. It feels right, like you’re his. His groan is rough, his thrusts sloppy, and you feel your pussy spasm around him in a third, weaker orgasm, or maybe it’s just aftershocks from your second. You’re limp underneath him, letting him use your body how he needs to.
"Fuck," he curses, "did so good for me."
He slips out of you, and you can feel his spend drip out of you. You’re weak, soft like jelly, sweaty and entirely satisfied.
"Jesus," you breathe, when he falls down next to you, his couch mercifully being big enough.
"Yeah," he answers, "Jesus."
***
Turns out, Joel Miller is a dirty talking bastard during sex, and a big softie afterwards. He makes you tea, strokes your hair while you sip it, then carries you up to his shower and gently washes your body his his sponge. Throughout, he’s quiet, and you wonder if it was too much, the mention of him being your professor, of your parents, but you’re too afraid to ask. He brushes your forehead with his lips when he dries you off, and pulls another of his shirts over you head. Your panties are entirely ruined, it’s all you’re wearing.
When you’re clean again, and relaxed, Joel pulls you onto his bed, wrapping you up in his arms.
"Did you…was that too much?" he asks you softly fingertips tracing over your thigh lazily.
"It was just right," you answer quietly, and he hums.
"You didn’t feel like you…I mean when you called me Professor, you wanted to do that, right?"
You look up at him, and press a soft kiss against his jaw.
"Of course, Joel. Wanted everything we did, I promise."
He nods, but you can tell there’s still something bothering him.
"You know that’s not what you are to me, though, right?" Your voice is soft. "You’re just Joel."
He brushes the top of your head with his lips.
"I mean it," you press on when he doesn’t answer, "it’s like a costume, Joel. I know it’s your job, but it’s…I don’t think of you as like, an authority figure or something. I just thought you looked hot in that slutty shirt."
"Slutty–?" he sputters and you laugh.
"Sure, you know, with your sleeves rolled up, and that first button popped open."
"’S not slutty."
"You showed your forearms. Half the lecture hall felt like a victorian man seeing ankles for the first time."
Joel makes an exasperated sound, half amused and half offended.
"I mean it," you say again after beat, humor gone from your tone, "and it’s not just sex to me. You know that."
"Yeah," Joel answers slowly. "’S more to me, too."
It’s a hell of an admission.
"What are we gonna do?", you ask quietly, and Joel sighs.
"You’re gonna go to class," he says, voice dark, "and I’ll try very, very hard not to call your father and tell him I’m fallin’ for his daughter."
You bury your face in his chest. With anyone else, it would be too much, too fast, too intense. But this is Joel. It’s not fast if you’ve known him your whole life, is it? You kiss his chest, and he seems to understand.
"We’ll figure it out," Joel says quietly, pressing a kiss to your hair.
For a second you do want your parents to know, want them to see that someone does treat you like an adult, want to look them in the eye and say I’m with Joel now and there’s nothing you can do about it. I have my own life now and it includes this kind man. It’s childish, you know it is. You lean up, catch Joel’s mouth in a kiss.
"Yeah," you answer, “We’ll figure it out, Professor.”

“Alienate.” Flo mutters, the first thing Phil Callahan hears when he enters the station. “No, that's eight letters. Darn.”
“How’s the crossword, Miss Flo?” He asks, as he always asks, every morning.
It’s part of a little routine he’s established with their doting receptionist, partly out of boredom, mostly because she sometimes asks him for help.
If there’s one thing Phil enjoys doing, it’s helping.
(It’s why he became a cop, after all.)
“Hi, hun. I’m stuck.” Flo responds, staring down at the New York Times spread out before her.
It’s a quiet Friday morning and a quick glance at the open and dark-empty office of the Chief says the man’s not in yet, and so Callahan rounds the big wooden desk to stare at the puzzle over Flo’s shoulder.
“Which one?” He asks, seeing most of it’s already been filled out.
Flo jabs a finger at the offending clue, her nails painted a light pastel blue. “Pushed away through inattention.” She reads dutifully, then traces her finger to the blank section of the crossword, tapping at it. “Nine letter word.”
Phil cocks his head, thinks it through.
“It wasn’t alienate.” Flo says, non-helpfully.
“Ignored?” Phil tries.
“That’s seven letters.”
They both stare down at the puzzle, the black and white squares taunting them.
“Neglected.” Phil says suddenly, triumphant. “It has to be neglected--the word has to end with a D to make sense in the puzzle. See?”
One of two words that crosses over with their missing piece is ‘abandoned’, which fits nicely with the apparently gloomy theme of today’s crossword.
“Doesn’t work with the other word that goes through it though.” Flo points out, defeating the proud little glow that had been building in Phil’s head.
The other bisecting word is ‘isolated’, making him wonder if the puzzlemaker is in the middle of a rough divorce.
(Or maybe just a rough day, and he’s the one projecting…)
“Well, hell.” Phil grumbles, staring down at it.
“Try estranged!” Powell calls as he passes by with a mug full of coffee.
Flo carefully pencils in ‘estranged’ and makes a pleased noise when it fits.
“Thank you, hun!” She calls, and Phil huffs at himself for not seeing it, but also refuses to let Powell’s one upping ruin his day.
The man himself offers their receptionist a smile, before tossing a casual reprimand Phil’s way.
“Callahan, get to work, would you?”
“Yeah, yeah, smartypants.” He says, going to fetch his own cup of coffee. “Save the bitching for the Chief.”
Powell rolls his eyes at him, and Callahan makes a face back, and the two of them go on to have a very boring, small town cop sort of day--right until a legitimate call finally comes in.
Well.
Sort of.
“The Harrington residence is having a too-loud party again.” Hopper says, having finally shown up sometime between nine and noon. “Drunk teenagers are throwing up in people’s lawns.”
“It’s not even dark yet.” Powell mutters, staring at the clock as if he couldn’t imagine a party taking place before 8 pm.
“Teenagers don’t care about that shit, that’s why they’re getting the cops called on them.” Hopper snips back. He’d been in a mood all day, and not the fun, jolly kind.
“Come on Callahan, let’s go remind Harrington Jr. that it’s his daddy that owns this department, not him.”
“I wish you wouldn’t joke about that.” Phil says as he follows Hopper out the door, waving goodbye to Flo as he goes. “People are going to think you’re serious.”
(Sometimes, Phil thinks as he swings into the patrol truck, that Hopper is serious.
That they are being paid to look the other way.
Then he takes a sip of their god-awful coffee and hears Hopper’s ancient truck cough to life, and figures, if anyone was getting cash here, there would at least be evidence of it.)
xXx
Harrington Jr.’s party isn’t quite the chaotic disaster it was made out to be, though there are a handful of tipsy teenagers stumbling around the lawn.
“One of these idiots is going to drown in that damn pool someday.”  Hopper complains through gritted teeth as he storms up the driveway, kids scrambling into action the second they spot him.
One loudly screams; “Cops!” and the rest of them scatter, running in so many directions it makes Phil’s head spin. He briefly moves as if to give chase before deciding there’s simply too many to bother.
(Knows that it’s unlikely they’ll arrest anyone but Harrington tonight, anyway.)
“If the right kid bites it, Dick Harrington might even have to come deal with it personally.” Over his shoulder Hopper tosses Phil a shark’s smile, barging up the porch to bang hard on one of the two front doors. “Wouldn’t that be a sight to see?”
“No, not really.” Phil says, because he’s thinking about dead teenagers in pools.
“Also I don’t think Richard likes to be called Dick.” He adds cautiously, just in case the man himself happens to be home.
It’s unlikely, doubly so given all the drunk minors, but that just means Phil isn’t surprised when it’s not the Vice President of Indiana Corporate Consulting, LLC that opens the door but his son, Steve.
“Officers.” The kid drawls, shirtless in swim trunks, not a single strand of his perfectly styled hair out of place. “What can I do for you?”
He leans casually in the doorway, as another kid screams out a warning inside.
“You can cut the shit.” Hopper says. “You know the drill. Turn around and put your hands behind your back.”
Harrington does neither of those things, instead tilting his head and making a face like he just smelled something foul.
“I’m not drunk. And anyone who is drunk brought it without telling me. You should go arrest them.” Steve  jams a thumb over his shoulder, pointing at the rapidly emptying house.
Then he smirks at both of them, every inch the newly crowned King the kids insist on calling him.
“You think your old man is gonna believe that?” Hopper snarls, infuriated. He never was one that dealt well with teenagers. Or at least, these kinds (and that damn Munson kid, who just loved stealing everybodies lawn flamingos.)
“I think you’ll find ‘my old man’,” Steve mockinly mimics, “doesn’t care.”
“He will when the neighbors start calling.” Hopper tosses back as Phil pushes past Harrrington Jr. to begin the process of trying to wrangle drunk teenages. “That’s Janet Wilkinson’s prized hydrangeas Hagan’s been throwing up in. You wanna see what happens when she talks to your mother?”
“She has to get a hold of my mother to talk to her.” Steves snarks, instead of pulling out his usual charm. “Why do you think she called you instead?”
This isn’t Phil’s first call to the house, but it is the first time Harrington Jr. has been this combative. It’s new, but not exactly unexpected.
Not when Steve Harrington has been hurtling towards this ever since he started hosting parties.
“You think your parents won’t care when I call them?”
“Well they haven’t before, so--”
Phil rolls his eyes as the kid and Hopper trade more barbs, the adult’s growing sharper and sharper as Steve makes a couple of arguments about being held accountable for other people’s actions (and something else about unreasonably high standards and making his own bail.)
Let's them argue it out as he quickly realizes he will definitely not be catching teenagers, and pivots to scanning for too-drunk stragglers in need of help.
“Keep running your mouth, Harrington, and I’ll let you cool your heels overnight in a jail cell. That what you want?”
“You already did that, remember? Swore you’d never do it again because I was too annoying.”
“You can’t annoy me if I’m not the one there watching you--”
Phil tunes out the rising voices, his attention snagging on something else.
The Harringtons’ entryway was sparse, and the rooms beyond weren’t much better. The whole house had the sterile feel of a museum;  untouched and unlived in.
Not even a swarm of teenagers had managed to leave much of a mark. Or at least, not in these few rooms, anyway.
Which is what makes the scraggly note stand out.
It’s taped to the wall right above the phone, but slightly askew, like it’d been thought of last-minute. A little crumpled, like someone half-heartedly tried to peel it off before giving up and pressing it back down.
‘Who puts a phone in the entryway?’ Phil wonders, but then, it is the Harrington’s.
Maybe they need it to find each other in this huge fucking house.
He leans in to read the note, spotting the bold letters at the bottom informing everyone the entire notepad had been custom ordered for RICHARD HARRINGTON, VP.
‘Darling,’ beautiful cursive starts, at odds with the footnote, ‘Sorry that we couldn’t get a hold of you. Your father had a business opportunity, you know how important those are. I’ll send you a postcard. Take care of the house, remember that Martha is coming on Wednesdays now to get the dry cleaning. Do something fun for your birthday!’
It’s signed XOXO, Muffin.
Muffin is, of course, Richard Harrington’s wife, and also a walking punchline. Or at least she is when people aren’t tripping over themselves to stay on her good side.
Weird that she signed it as such instead of with ‘Mom’, but then Muffin always has been a bit…much.
More importantly (besides the fact that they skipped out on their own kids birthday) is the date at the top, which says the note was left Tuesday, March 17th.
It’s currently the middle of May.
Flo’s crossword springs to mind, each guessed word clicking into place beside Steve’s own, still warm, spoken just moments ago.
Abandoned, and ‘She has to get a hold of my mother to talk to her.’
Ignored and ‘I think you’ll find my old man doesn’t care.’
A cold realization sweeps through Phil, as he recalls the things they’ve all heard other kids say about Steve.
No parents.
Big house.
Always down for a good time.
(‘Neglect is the failure to give somebody proper care or attention.’ Powell had argued on their lunch break, as Phil complained that ‘neglected’ fit the stupid crossword better than ‘estranged’ had.
“Estranged works because it’s when you’re not really talking to someone. Hence the pushing away part. They’re different. Similar! But different.”
“That’s dumb.” Phil argued back.
“You’re dumb.” Powell replied, then laughed when Phil gasped in mock offense. “It’s why you’re getting taken to the cleaners in your divorce!”
“Hey man, come on, too far!”
“Sorry, sorry--” )
All cop’s develop intuition, even the small town ones, and Phil’s kicks in as he stares at the note.
Neglected might be a hard sell for a fifteen year old that drives a BMW, but estranged definitely fits the bill.
(He’s pretty sure neglect does fit the fucking bill no matter how much money the kids parents have, but he’s been on the force long enough to know how these things go.)
He turns on his heel and marches over, sticking himself right in between his boss and the only remaining teenager.
“Where are your parents at, again?” He asks, right over whatever point Hopper was butchering.
“What?” Steve and Hopper both say, before giving the other a look for it.
“Do you know where your parents are at?” Phil asks again, switching up the wording a little just like they’d taught him in the academy.
“Uh…No?” Steve says, seeming too startled to lie. “You’d have to call dad’s receptionist.”
“Okay. And when are they coming back?”
This time Steve tosses a look at Hopper, like Phil’s the one being weird here.
“When they get back.” He says, and it’s like he’s trying to still sound tough, to put forth that King persona, but is fumbling a little now that it’s not Hopper who's asking the questions.
“So you have no idea, at all.” He clarifies, and feels his stomach sink a little.
“I mean, I could also call dad’s receptionist.” Steve says, like that makes it better.
“Whose in charge of you while they’re gone?” And yes he knows it’s a stupid question, knows that Steve is fifteen (he thinks, anyway) and is perfectly old enough
“...I am.” Steve says, right over Hopper’s annoyed; “What the hell, Callahan.”
“Chief, can I talk to you?” He says, turning to face his boss.
Hopper stares back at him in disbelief, before making a show of summoning the last of his patience with a loud sigh.
“You.” He points at Steve. “Sit. Stay.”
“Want me to shake too?” Harrington Jr calls out in an attempt to recover, but Phil’s got a hand on Hopper’s elbow and is dragging the older man away before he can get sucked back in.
“You better have found something good Callahan.” Hopper warns, as Phil snatches the note on the wall as they pass by.
“Hopper,” Phil says quietly, leaning in as he pulls Hopper all the way into the kitchen, kicking empty solo cups as he goes. “I don’t think his parents have been home in a while.”
He shoves the note in the Chiefs face.
“No shit, kid.” Hopper spits, and the nickname sits badly, now that Phil’s heard it spat at Steve the same way.
(Hopper doesn’t mean it, Phil knows he doesn’t.
Hopper’s the best boss Phil’s ever had. The guy’s just a little rough sometimes, gets lost in the little things and needs to be brought back down.
‘He’s got a lot going on, hun, but we’ll get him there.’ Flo says when he’s been really mean, and Phil knows they will, he’s seen it himself, but sometimes he wishes whatever the Chief was healing from would let him go a little faster.)
He grabs the note, eyes scanning over it, and Phil talks a little faster.
“No, I mean, look at the date, Chief. They’ve been gone for months.”
Hopper looks up from the note and gives him the world’s flattest state. “So?”
Phil gapes a little at him. “Isn’t that abandonment?”
In response, Hopper simply steps more into the kitchen, then throws open a door next to the stove. Reveals a huge, walk-in pantry, piled high with all kinds of food.
Stands next to it like it’s a party trick he just unveiled.
“Given the lights are on and that fancy little car of his seems to have gas,  I’d say they’re providing for the kid just fine.” He says crossly.
Which isn’t wrong exactly, but it’s not right either.
“Yeah,” Phil protests, “but--”
“Trust me, things could be a lot worse.” Hopper cuts him off. “Save all the pity for someone who actually needs it, and not a kid whose parents’ lawyers will cut both our balls off for even suggesting they don’t care about their kid.”
“Harsh, Chief.” Phil mutters, stung. There’s a small, growing voice in his head that says Steve Harrington does kind of need someone.
That a kid, even one as old as Steve is, shouldn’t be left like this.
“Life’s harsh. Now unless you’re volunteering to watch the kid all night in a cell, I say we call the brat’s parents and this time, we’re gonna hit them with a citation when they get home. See if they ignore that.”
“Please do!” Steve calls loudly, from where he’s still seated on the couch. “It’ll be funny, trust me.”
Hopper goes to pinch the bridge of his nose, before glancing sideways at the island counter covered in solo cups and bottles.
Changes course to pluck an unopened whiskey bottle from the pile, tucking it under his arm.
Storms back out to whatever the Harrington’s call the room Steve’s in, pausing only to stop in front of him.
“Hey.” Steve says, spotting the bottle.
Hopper holds it out. “Oh, I’m sorry,  is this yours?”
Steve’s mouth opens, before he catches Callahan’s shaking head. Thinks better of it, and slams it back closed.
Grumbles; “No, sir.”
“Oh it’s sir now, is it?” Hopper says with a snort. “Since you’re so good at eavesdropping, you already know what I’m going to do. Congratulations Harrington, you get out of jail tonight, but,”
He leans forward, putting himself almost nose to nose with the surely teenager, “I will be making sure that this time, your parents pay attention.”
Quick as a shot he’s up and out the door, slamming it close behind him like he forgot Phil was there.
“Good luck!” Steve shouts after him, but it’s clear even he thinks the Chief won their little sparring match.
“Have your parents really been gone since March?” Phil says when the coast is clear, and watches Steve blink at him like he hadn’t realized the younger officer was still there.
“Yeah.” Steve says with a shrug, like it’s not a big deal. “Every kid’s dream.”
It’s not. Even Phil can tell from the way Steve’s face looks just then, that he knows it’s not.
He doesn’t know what exactly posses him, but the next words out of his mouth are; “You ever get too lonely here, you can stay with me.”
“What?” Steve says, eyes snapping right to Phil’s face like he misheard him.
He’s embarrassed for two entire seconds before deciding, fuck it.
He already offered, he’s not taking it back.
“It’s a big house, kid. You shouldn’t be alone for that long.” Phil thinks about his impending divorce. On the emptiness of the house, with his soon to be ex wife long gone. How that eats at him, sometimes. Adds;  “No one should be.”
Harrington Jr. stares at him like he’s lost his mind. “Whatever.” He scoffs, but it’s not quite the waspish tone he’d used before.
“You ever need help either, you call me.” Phil says, because that seems important to say too.
He points up at one of the chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, impossibly high over both their heads. “Even if it’s just to hold a ladder to change one of those lightbulbs.”
Steve’s eyes go up with him then back down, like he’s still not sure this isn’t a joke being played on him.
“I mean it.” Phil says, right as one of the front doors whips back open. Reaches into the pocket of his uniform, and pulls out his card. “You need me, you call.”
“Callahan!” Hopper bellows, and Phil calls out a loud; “Coming!” before making eye contact with Steve once more.
“Take it.”  He says, holding out the card, and hopes he sounds like a proper adult when he does.
(Phil often does not feel like an adult, least of which because he’s the youngest in the department by two decades, nevermind the failed marriage.)
“Okay.” Steve says dismissively, but he reaches out.
Takes the card.
It feels like a victory and Phil lets it be one as he leaves the Harrington residence and Steve behind with it. Feels the rot of that be soothed by the fact he at least did something.
(Also see’s Hopper didn’t wait for him, but is instead sitting in the driver’s seat of the truck.
Knows his boss is gonna be pissed at him, but faces the noose anyway.)
“Puppies are expensive.” The Chief tells him darkly, the second Phil opens the door. “And they shit all over the floor.”
“What?” He asks, not always used to his bosses nonsensical ramblings.
He eyes the thermos the Chief’s holding, and wonders if already dumped the whiskey he stole in it.
They all thought the Chief had been getting better, but maybe not…
“Puppies,” Hopper stressed, jamming the hand holding the thermos in Phil’s face (no liquor smell, thank God.) “who have very rich owners, are typically well cared for, even if their idea of care and your idea are different.”
Phil’s face contorts in confusion, eyes following Hopper’s finger pointed middle finger to the fading tail lights of Steve’s BMW.
It takes him a second, but he gets there.
“Steve isn’t a puppy.” He says instantly offended, because teenagers and puppies are very, very different, thanks, and yes okay, he knows it’s a metaphor, but it’s a stupid one.
“Acts like one.” Hopper says, before taking a noisy sip of the thermos.
“He really doesn’t?”
Phil wants to say he complains right back at his boss, but really it comes out as more of a question--because Steve Harrington has never acted like a dog. The kid’s not clingy, or whiny or even loud.
He’s a kid, sure, a teenager that’s obnoxious, but aren’t all teenagers that way, by default?
Phil’s mother certainly said so, though she’d been teasing about it.
(She also said something about how kids who can’t get what they need the right way, will revert to trying out the wrong ways instead.)
“Whatever. Just don’t come running to me when you get too close and Mommy and Daddy show up to remind you it’s none of your business.”
Hopper starts the cruiser, expecting that to be that.
And normally it would be. Phil would leave it alone, even if he disagreed, but today he finds he can’t.
Not when the words from Flo’s crossword are still haunting his head, ‘abandoned’ and ‘neglected’ and ‘pushed away’ lighting up like little warning signs, all pointing towards one very sad kid.
“If they come back.” He finds himself saying.
“Oh, they always come back.” Hopper snorts right back. “Just not when any of us ever want them too.”
Phil doesn’t like that answer, but this time he does leave it alone.
Figures the best he can do for Steve is what he already did. Let him know he saw him. Let him know he understood.
If Steve needs someone, he now knows Phil will come.
He won’t let anyone make him feel bad for offering that, either, because this is the exact thing he signed up to do, when he became a cop.
Even if Harrington never reaches out to him, at least Phil can say he did something. At least he can live with himself.
xXx
Weeks go by.
A month.
Two months and more.
By a year Phil has kind of forgotten about his promise to Steve Harrington, and by the time the Chief has gotten them all involved in some kind of--poisoned pumpkin patch problem, he’s too caught up in trying to figure out what the hell is going on in Hawkins to really think about it.
That is, until the kid himself shows up on his doorstep, with a black eye and a hand hugging his ribs.
Which would be concerning on its own, but it’s worse given that known lawn flamingo thief and constant pain in the police department’s ass, Eddie Munson, is right there with him.
“Hi Officer Callahan.” Munson says, and he, Phil quickly realizes, looks perfectly fine, despite clearly being the only reason Steve seven on his feet. “Uh…Harrington said I should take him here?”
He does not sound certain, and frankly, looks two seconds from bolting.
Given how much Steve is bleeding on him, Phil can’t blame him for it.
“What the hell.” He says, shocked and loose tongued for it. “Did you two get in a fight!?”
“No!” Munson yelps, then immediately stills when the act of it jostles Steve. “I found him like this. He was fucking trying to drive and was weaving all over the place--I got him to stop, and get in my van, but the only thing he’ll say is that I needed to bring him to you!”
Like it wasn’t bad enough the chief had been out of contact all night or that there had been weird people swarming all over town, nevermind all those damn phone calls about loose dogs and--
“You said.” Steve interrupts Phil’s spiraling thoughts, voice sounding oddly strangled, and he'd pay more attention to that if he wasn’t finding new and concerning injuries every second he looked.
“You said I could go to you, for help. If I needed it. Cause Hopper--Hopper’s busy,” Steve’s slurring, Phil realizes and oh god a lot of that blood is on his head, “An’ I didn’t want the kids to worry, but I think…i was wrong, I don’t--I think I’m…I don’t wanna be ‘lone--”
“Okay, okay.” Phil reaches out, tries to take Steve’s weight off of Munson. “Get in here. You too, Munson.”
Expects the latter to protest and is a little surprised to watch as the kid instead helps Steve hobble inside.
“Put him on the couch while I get my first aid kit.” Phil orders, trying not to panic and failing. He has first aid training--more than, actually, because he took it as an elective back when he thought he was going to go to medical school, but that was years ago and Steve looks like he went head first through a blender.
‘Stabilize him now, panic later.’ He orders himself, as Munson settles both of them down on the couch.
“Am I dying?” Steve asks vaguely, to Munson’s increasingly panicked face.
“Nope.” Phil says, voice as firm as he can make it. “Not today.”
He comes over, looking over Steve once again
“You staying Munson?” He asks, more an out for the kid than anything else.
Watches as the older teen clocks that for what it is.
See’s Steve unintentionally lean into his chest, breathing a little weird.
“No man, you’re going to need an extra hand.” Eddie says. “I’m staying right here.”
“Me too.” Steve slurs nonsensically.
“What the hell, me too.” Phil says, just to lighten the mood a little.
Then he drops to his knees and goes about stabilizing Steve.
(At some point Munson decides to help tell his latest flamingo heist story. Phil let him, even if no one had realized he’d pulled off another one again.
He got Steve to laugh, so Phil figures it was worth it, at least. )

baby doll ~ sim jaehyun x reader
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
౨ৎ inspired by this request !! ♡ ଓ ⋆˙⊹ [ 제이크 ] ☆ in which jake eats out his virgin girlfriend for the first time and ends up going batshit insane with obsession & possession
word count ; 2.7k
dom! jake x sub! reader . corruption kink , oral , lots of praise , very very slight degrading if u squint , fingering , neck kisses , hickeys , Jake is a little bit of a pervert , not proof read , this kinda sucks oh well
Tumblr media
Jake and you have been together for four months , and the two of you have decided to take things slow.
he was so so patient with you- so kind and loving , never has he ever made you feel uncomfortable or forced to do anything. he wanted to go at your own pace, even if that meant he had to rub one out after a heated make out session in private once a while.
he was the sweetest boyfriend ever and he loves you so much..
so much he began to slip into insanity
you two have had conversations before, such as establishing a safe word and what kinds of things the two of you were kind of into
which led him to discover that you were in fact a virgin.
ever since you told him that small fact about yourself, he drove himself further into madness.
how on earth were you a virgin?
he thinks to himself on a regular basis. you're too fucking gorgeous.
the thought of having the perfect little girl who has never experienced having sex was phonenomal. he wanted to show you all the different ways he could make you feel good, which positions he could fold you into, he wanted to force perfect whines and moans out of your mouth as he fucked his cock deep inside you for the first time. he wanted to teach you how to suck him off- imagining your round eyes looking up at him while your mouth was stuffed full of his length was too much for him to contemplate.
Jake knows its wrong, but when he's snooped through your room a couple times while you were in the shower. he imagined what your naked body looked like when it was wet, how the water droplets would travel inbetween your breasts and thighs- the picture made him unbelievably hard-, he then found himself discovering the awful cute panties that are folded neatly in your underwear drawer that have adorable matching bras. he also discovered a measly pink vibrator tucked away in a box of that underwear drawer, completely dead and his mind began to race.
have you came to the thought of him at all? do you imagine him fucking you as you use the pathetic little toy on your clit?
he couldn't seem to stop his dirty thoughts that began to cloud ever part of his being.
the thought of you wearing one of those adorable pieces of underwear underneath your clothes made him feel all sorts of things. and oh god whenever you would walk around your apartment with just a hoodie on made him wonder if you were wearing one of the cute lacy panties with a black bow stitched in the middle.
here you were, reaching up on your tippy toes to grab a glass out of the cabinet.
and that god damn hoodie of his that you're wearing began to ride up to show the curve of your ass, the lacy underwear peaking out from underneath.
Jake felt himself growing in his jeans just at the sight, you truly had no fucking clue what you were doing to him.
"come here baby" jakes voice traveled through the apartment. you pop your head out of the kitchen with the biggest smile on your face.
"coming, I was just getting water" you trot into the living room, setting down the glass of water onto the surface of the coffee table. you stand up and look at him, that cute smile on your face still prominent.
his hoodie falls around your mid thigh, the article of clothing completely swallowing your figure and he begins to wonder how you look underneath.
he would love your body regardless of its shape of course, but that doesn't stop the dirty thoughts that form in his skull. every fiber of his being is telling him to rip it off of you and stuff your face into the couch below him and fuck you raw- but he decides on the latter.
"come here doll, let me look at you" your feet patter on the hardwood floors as you walk over to your boyfriend, standing in between his spread legs. his hands find the outsides of your thighs , his thumbs rubbing gentle circles on your exposed skin.
"you're so beautiful" his words make a deep blush coat your cheeks. his hands suddenly grip your legs, shifting your body so that you can sit on his lap facing him.
you gasp at his forwardness, but lean into his touch nontheless. your head leans down and your breath fans his face. Jake looks up at you through his eyelashes, admiring your beautiful face that's beet red at his gentle words.
you both lean in for a kiss, your chapstick smearing onto his lips as your mouths move together. your hands move to wrap around his neck, pushing your body into his front.
the kiss quickly began to escalate, your mind was fuzzy, your hands were frantic, and your pussy began to wetten.
his tongue intruded your lips, sliding against yours while his hands moved from your thighs up to your hips underneath the hoodie you were wearing.
his fingers played with the hem of your underwear, a quite whine leaving your throat- to which Jake happily swallowed. your hands moved up to his head, your fingers lacing in his thick locks in order to tug and pull on them.
now it was jakes turn to moan into your mouth, his fingers tightening on your hips as he began to grind his growing bulge into your core.
everything felt hot and overstimulating , your head began to hurt as you quickly pulled off of your boyfriend.
your lips were kiss swollen and your face was red. Jake looked up at you with concern, his hands instantly slipping out of the hoodie in order to cup your cheeks.
"what's wrong my love, are you okay?" you nodded your head trying to catch your breath. your eyes fly closed and your hands grip into his shoulders.
"we don't have to baby doll, lets put on a movie and cudd-"
"I- I want to.." your voice was small, tone laced with embarrassment. jakes eyes widen in shock and he tilts your head to look at him.
"we don't have to if you dont want to , im okay sweetheart I promise" he reassures you , as hes done for the millionth time since the two of you started dating. your eyes open and lock onto his.
"I want to, Jake... I really really do im just- nervous is all.. what if it hurts?" oh my god.
Jake feels his chest tighten and he bites back a smirk, his hands moving down to cup the slope of your waist. he wished you wouldn't have said that, because all he wants to do now is manipulate your body into any position he wishes while he takes away any and all sense of innocence you have in your body.
"how about this baby, I'll eat you out and finger you until you're ready for me, hmm?" jakes eyes darken slightly , you avert your eyes from his with an embarrassing huff.
"what it... what if i.. I dont know.." you stutter over your words, not wanting to finish the stupid sentence.
"big girl words, doll" you sigh again and cover your face with your hands, muttering into your palms
"what if I taste bad" your words are muffled, but Jake can hear them regardless. he takes his big hands and wraps them in his hold, forcing your hands away from your red face as he speaks to you.
"you will not taste bad , I swear... how on earth would you have a bad taste, you are the sweetest girl to ever walk this damn earth" his compliment makes you giggle.
there is absolutely no way you could taste bad and he knows it.
he's smelt your underwear before out of pure curiosity and has never been more obsessed with the idea of eating you out ever since.
before you could protest, hes picking you up into the air. your legs wrap around his waste and your arms tighten around his neck with a squeal.
"Jakeee" you drag out his name with a giggle as he walks over to your room. he sets you on the foot of the bed and you feel even more embarrassment at all your stuffed animals looking at you.
Jake stands inbetween your legs, his hands on your knees in order to keep them apart.
you lay on your back and reach above your head, turning around your stuffed rabbits that rest in front of your pillows before sitting up and facing him.
Jake has to stifle a laugh that threatens to bubble up passed his chest, but one makes it out anyways.
"dont laugh at me.. I dont want them watching" you are too fucking adorable, his heart swells in his chest at your words.
Jake leans downs, his body towering over yours as he brings you into another kiss, this time it's more heated; demanding as his mouth moves against yours rhythmically. your hands move to his back, arms wrapping around his shoulders. you feel his hands at the base of the hoodie. he breaks the kiss with a wet pop, he looks into your lust-filled eyes- a silent plea.
"can... can we keep it on..?" you ask him, and he instantly responds.
"of course baby, anything you want sweetheart" Jake brings one of his hands to press against the mattress behind you before he gently leans you back, your head falling onto the mattress gently.
you feel yourself growing wetter, your clit pulsating in your panties as he kisses you deeply once more. your hands move to his hair- tugging on it once more.
Jake bites your lower lip and you hiss, your hips grind up into the air in a desperate search for friction. he trails his kisses to your neck before sucking down on your skin, leaving the prettiest purple marks that have you arching your back while breathless whimpers drip off your tongue like honey.
Jake detaches from your neck and sinks down to his knees in front of the bed, his face coming down to your clothed pussy. he pushes the hoodie up around your stomach, baring your underwear to him. your face is hot and you worry about how you taste and look, attempting to control your breathing as you lay down on the mattress.
"shh baby, its okay, I got you" his words reassure your overthinking mind. he brings a cold finger up to your clothed clit and presses down, earning himselfa sharp inhale from the perfect woman above.
he rubs his digit in soft circles, coaxing your body to relax.
"j-jake.." you whine as he chuckles. after a moment of concentrated massaging to your clothed clit- he sees a prominent wet patch form on your underwear and he curses at the sight.
without thinking, he pulls your panties to the side and slips his fingers through your wet folds. your back arches and your eyes close at the feeling.
"so wet for me already?" he teases you. your mind is racing - as is your heart while he pulls his fingers away from your heat in order to pull your pretty panties down passed your ankles.
you sit up on your forearms as he places his hands on your knees in order to pull your legs apart.
and the sight of your dripping pussy makes him fall for you all over again. the unholy thoughts that run ramped in his mind are sick, the way he wants to split you in half and fuck you dumb overtakes his thoughts- but he calms them in an instant.
he brings his face closer to your heat so his breath fans your aching pussy. your arousal drips down your ass and onto the sheets before he brings his tongue out in order to lick a stripe up your pussy- making you shudder in your hold.
he does it again, and again, and again- making your breathing rapid and uneven
"so sweet.." he mumbles before wrapping his arms around your legs in order to pull you down onto his face- his lips automatically wrapping around your clit.
your mouth slacks open in a gasp followed by loud moans. his tongue works its magic against you- flicking and sucking around your sensitive bundle of nerves. your hands fist in the sheets, using them as leverage to keep you grounded.
Jake groans into your pussy as he feels your hole clench around nothing- so he brings his middle finger up to your cunt before sliding it inside your tight pussy.
you quite literally suck his finger inside you before clenching around him. Jake lets out a stream of curses into your wet pussy
"fuck.. so tight. such a perfect baby doll falling apart in my hands" you moan at his words, your hips rocking into his face.
the unfamiliar feeling of Jake eating you out makes body feel weak and your mind feel empty- stars beginning to form in the darkness behind your eyelids.
Jakes finger pumps inside your pussy, curling in desperate search for that sweetspot deep inside you- and when he finds it, your back arches even further off the bed as you squeal. he chuckles against you- sending vibrations through your entire body starting at your core.
"found it" you feel tears well up in your eyes, and Jake decides to scrape his teeth gently against your clit- making you hiss at the odd feeling.
"god you're so fucking beautiful, my perfect little angel" his finger repeatedly kisses your cherry-sweet spot, the pleasure overriding your senses as you grab his hair and grind into his face.
"j-jake please.." you have no idea why your begging, but the sound of you moan his name as you come undone in the palm of his hand makes jakes cock rock hard- straining against his jeans and he swears he could come just by eating you out.
his grip on your thigh tightens, his tongue concentrated on your puffy, swollen clit.
an unfamiliar feeling forms in the pit of your stomach, and you begin to feel hot and uncomfortable.
"j-jake i.. feel weird hmm, pl-plea-se" your moans pick up volume and your legs attempt to close around his head, but the grip he has on your thighs is strong and unmoving.
"doing such a good job for me sweet girl, wanna cum angel?" you shake your head frantically, the wave of your orgasm beginning to crash down on you.
"y-yes please" you answer, making Jake pout his lips into you.
"such a good girl, you can cum baby, I got you sweetheart im here" you fall into this hands as the coil in your tummy begins to unravel, your hands come to cover your eyes and your legs begin to shake.
your moans turn into high-pitched mewls and cries
"oh my god Jake!" one of your hands comes down to your side in order to reach for your boyfriend, and he just about breaks down.
you're reaching for him.
you want to hold his hand as eats you out, as you come all over him.
he unwraps his arm from your leg and instantly grips your hand in his, and that pushes you over the edge as your fluids squirt out of your pussy and all over his face- dripping down his chin to stain the sheets below.
Jake gawks at you, his mouth slack open and his eyes wide as you become a puddle
the realization of what just happened hits him;
you just fucking squirted for him.
"fuck- you're so perfect oh my god- such a good girl, pretty girl" as you begin to settle down, Jake pulls his fingers out of you and stands up before leaning down to face you.
he tucks a stray hair behind your ear as he kisses your forehead.
"you did such a good job for me baby doll, so pretty" he compliments.
"I-i was?" Jake nods his head and takes you into his arms.
"yes baby, the best"

Pairing(s): Luffy x reader; Zoro x reader; Sanji x reader; Ace x reader; Law x reader Genre: Smut Warnings: This content is for a mature audience Synopsis: Living the sugar baby dream Author's notes: I can't believe this took me a fucking month. Enjoy these sugar daddies!
Masterlist
If you enjoy my work, please consider buying me a coffee
Luffy
He’s a very famous Twitch streamer; it makes sense, right? He’s funny, a good gamer, hot, oblivious to standard social cues, the usual.
He has everything he wants, but something is missing. He’s tried dating, but nothing has really come out of it.
“Why don’t you try getting a sugar baby?” Nami suggests, clearly, as a joke.
But wait a sec. Yeah, why doesn’t he get a sugar baby? He’s got the money, time, and initiative. What else does it take?
You met through a dating app that Nami had to help him look for. In your profile picture, you're wearing a low-cut tank top at a café, surrounded by desserts, and your bio mentions that you like dogs, food, and adventures. Also, no perverts, only serious deals.
Well, he likes the same things, he’s not a pervert, and he’s serious about this.
To be honest, he doesn’t quite understand what a sugar baby is. In his mind, a girlfriend and a sugar baby are the same thing, just with a cuter name.
Any kind of debt? He pays. Need a new phone? He pays. Need new clothes? He pays. Don’t need anything? Still, he pays.
“Lu, I need...” “Here’s my credit card.”
Loves having you on his channel, sitting on his lap while he plays. People in the comments ask a lot of questions, but he doesn’t answer any of them. He’s just happy that you’re here.
Shows you the games he likes, even if you are bad at them. He enjoys watching you play. Gifts you the Mangas he’s reading and loves hearing your opinions on them.
Remember I said he doesn’t understand social cues? Welp.
Your relationship quickly turns sexual. Luffy doesn’t really know how to keep his hands to himself. “Hey, do you ever touch yourself?” You choke on your salad.
He loves watching you masturbate.
Riding him on his gaming chair while he’s playing seems to be his favourite thing to do.
Him eating you out as soon as you walk into his apartment (you are now one of his favourite meals; always hot and ready).
You never speak about it, but your little arrangement turns into an actual relationship.
“Shh, sweets. You need to calm down, they're gonna find out.” He whispered in your ear while you sat down on his lap.
Luffy was streaming a new popular horror game. He had asked you to join him and you were happy to do it. He just had a small request.
“Hey, can we do that thing we tried last week?”
And that’s how you ended up sitting on his lap, dick impaling you and you trying your hardest not to moan every time he moved.
Luffy laughed with the scare jumps, moved around when reading comments and couldn’t seem to stay put to save his life (or your digital footprint). At some point you began suspecting he was doing it on purpose, the way his hands would run down your thighs, his hips would move against yours, pushing his cock against your spot and how he would leave small kisses on the back of your head.
“You’ve been awfully quiet, baby. Are you having fun?” He said as his hand went under your skirt, his fingers quick to find your clitoris and toy with it. The camera couldn’t see what he was doing, but your face said everything.
Zoro
He owns a bar. Loving sake and getting drunk really pays off, right? (Drink responsibly).
He’s a hot-headed, cynical, moody asshole, but goddamn if he isn’t so fucking hot. Along with the fact that he’s older and swimming in cash? Sign me the fuck up.
It should be easy for him to get whoever he pleases, but let’s face reality. This man doesn’t know how to get pussy and he’s not learning anytime soon.
Nami must be a saint to be helping all these desperate ass men. But now he’s got you and doesn’t have a clue as to what to do.
Dates? Um, sure, does hanging out at the gym or his bar count? No? Well, shit, what else is he supposed to do?
Nami said he should give you his credit card, so he did that and called it a day. No questions asked, he’s not really interested in what you are doing with the money. Though he will get a bit excited whenever he sees you wearing something he can recognise the charge for on his card.
Zoro is a simple yet complicated man. He won’t be an overly affectionate or needy sugar daddy, but he’s always present. He’s also a private man, so he’ll appreciate it if you keep your relationship on the downlow.
Makes you call him at the end of the day and listens to you ramble about whatever subject is on your mind, though he doesn’t say much. Whenever you show him what you bought on your shopping spree, he makes sure to pay extra attention if it comes to lingerie and jewellery; makes sure you take care of yourself, no injuries untreated or empty bellies on his watch.
He would never be the first to make a move when it comes to being sexual. Not that it doesn’t cross his mind, but the last thing he wants is to make you uncomfortable.
But he’s a man, a possessive man, and one of the guys he calls a friend is a whore (ahem, Sanji), so it’s safe to say you end up with your guts rearranged and your thighs burning, core crying on the chef’s kitchen bar. And he feels so damn proud of himself.
It’s amazing how things can change in just a couple of minutes. One moment, you were sitting in Sanji’s living room, he was praising your beauty and eagerly listening to whatever came out of your mouth, his hands caressing yours and you thinking how nice Zoro’s friends were. And the next moment, as soon as Sanji excused himself to take a call, your back was pressed against the kitchen’s bar and your head hanging off the edge with your sugar daddy’s head in between your legs.
“Zoro... fuck, Zoro we are going to get caught.” Your lips said something, but your hands pushing him closer to your core said something else. His fingers pushed on your clit while his tongue fucked you, your juices falling on the chef’s floor. He was being sloppy, rough and the slurps he made had you clenching your thighs around his head.
He groaned against your cunt, “He can watch for all I care. Fucking perv cook messing with what’s mine.” He’s nowhere near done.
Sanji
He’s a Michelin chef with multiple restaurants around the world. You know the drill.
He’s got fame, money, and looks.
But he can’t get a woman to save his life. Too intense, too desperate, too needy, too much.
If Luffy (and fucking Zoro) can get himself a sugar baby, why can’t he do the same? (He’ll ask, and practically beg, Nami to help him. If she did it for Luffy, why not for him? Yeah, now he owes her.)
That’s how you end up with this man. And you really can’t complain.
Handsome, elegant, obsessed with you and made of money. What else could you ask for?
You are the first to try his new recipes and techniques; your opinion is really important to him.
He’s a sucker for you the second he sees you. Will bend over backwards just to keep you happy. Expensive clothes, the finest jewellery, trips to places you’ve never even dreamed of.
Sanji is not hard to please; your existence keeps him satisfied. But... you know, a girl’s got needs. He may act all high and mighty around his friends, but you know better. You’ve got him on his knees, literally.
He lives to please you, in and out of the sheets.
You like head? Good, because he loves giving it. This man could live the rest of his days between your legs and die happy. Day or night, before or after work, in public or private; you can be sure he’ll eat you out and have you crying on his tongue in just a couple of minutes.
Are you more of a top or a bottom? Don’t worry, he’s a switch. Whether you feel like crying from stimulation or making him beg for more, he’s there to indulge you in all and every single way you can imagine.
But beware, you might or might not fall in love while getting your guts rearranged, but I can assure you he will fall head over heels for you the second he gets a taste of your sweet body, no doubt.
Right now, your head could only process two things, how you were stuck in the traffic on the back of Sanji’s car, and how good his cock felt inside you. You lost count of how many times you’ve cum. Is it five or six? His head is on your neck, leaving small hickies and kisses on your skin, making sure to mark you as his. His thrusts are relentless and rough, completely contrary to the sweet words he whispers against your mouth.
“You are taking me so well, princess.” His hands pushed you up and down his shaft, juices oozing out and covering the leather seats. His tip pushed against all the right places, making tears spill out of your eyes and your skin crawl from the overstimulation.
Your eyes were at the back of your head, your tongue lolled out of your mouth, his name all came out of you, “Sanji! Oh my god, Sanji! Too much!”
“Shh, sweetheart, the chauffeur might hear you.”
Ace
He’s the CFO at Whitebeard’s company. Truly a nepo baby, but he is sure to earn his position. Which leaves him little to no time for dating, socialising, or existing. But he’s okay with it... right?
Amazing how Whitebeard is the one who helps him get laid. Truly shameful his old man is getting more pussy than him (it makes him want to puke just thinking about it), also makes him wonder, how does the old man know how to get a sugar baby? Yeah, that’s a question he doesn’t want the answer to.
He’s a confident man, so he makes you feel secure the first time you meet. He’s not cold or distant whatsoever, but fierce and sure of what he wants and needs. He knows his way with words and makes sure to fluster you every chance he gets.
Thank God, Mr. Newgate had already warned you about his “sleep attacks” cause having to save a man from choking on a plate of mashed potatoes in the middle of a first date is not your definition of ideal.
Ace is too hot, too charming and too generous as a sugar daddy. Gold, rare trinkets and gifts that are way too expensive, and way too big flood your apartment in mere weeks.
Clothes, jewellery, bags, fuck it, even puppies, show at your door with just a call.
Likes showing you off, so he takes you everywhere he can, and introduces you as ‘his girl’ (man got me on my fucking knees with the bare minimum.)
He takes you out on creative and adventurous dates, so be prepared for anything. From fucking rock climbing to taking you to the opening of new club. But he’ll slow down if you feel like it’s too much.
You have him wrapped around your finger; he’ll worship the ground you walk on. It amuses Whitebeard to see his son stay put and be compliant for once in his life.
Just as his brother, Ace doesn’t really care about the difference between an actual girlfriend and a sugar baby; you are his and he will claim you as such.
“Such a nice view, isn’t it, baby?” Tits pressed against the window of his office, staring at the starry sky and the bright city. You could barely keep your eyes open, his cock kept bullying your cervix with every thrust, making your legs tremble.
His hands were holding you up, his nails biting so hard into your skin that they will surely leave marks. His hips slamming against your plush bottom and his balls slapping on your clit again and again. “Fuck, angel you are squeezing me so fucking tight.” His palm smacked your ass, “cum again for me. Fuck, come on, baby.”
“Daddy!” Your core clenched desperately, the knot on your tummy threatened to snap any second now, and just like that, juices spilt violently out of you, splashing your thighs, his and the floor.
“Good fucking job, sweetheart!” He moaned behind you. You expected him to slow down, but even if you had just cum, he didn’t plan on stopping.
Law
He’s a brilliant surgeon. All his work and effort have paid off, even if it meant sacrificing his youth. He feels fulfilled in every aspect of his work life.
But what about the rest of his life?
He’s tired of people asking him why he won’t bring anyone to the charity galas and events, and he’s even more tired of people coming and flirting with him.
He's tried dating, but he can’t flirt or even follow a conversation. Those are things they don’t teach you at med school.
One day, while doomscrolling on his phone, he comes across an ad for a sugar baby dating app. He’s quick to dismiss it, thinking that it’s for desperate people. The next day, he signed up. Meets a couple of people, but none of them catch his attention, and he’s really close to giving up. When he comes across your profile.
Now you are at his side at every event, and he’s content. No one’s bothering him with questions or measly romantic approaches, and he’s got an arm candy. Life is good.
He sees your relationship as a business transaction; you get what you want, and in return, he doesn’t have to go out and make a fool of himself. Everybody wins.
He pays debts, buys whatever you want, and more.
He’s not so present in the beginning because of work, and because he’s still getting the hang of being in this kind of relationship, or any relationship, for that matter.
Likes to think you were the one to fall first, but it’s a lie; he did. And he fell even harder.
It was slow and he kept denying himself, but everyone could see through his bullshit. The way he made time for you, cutting down on his work and research hours, answering texts, buying random things that reminded him of you (he’ll claim you asked for them and just forgot about it.)
He wishes he had confessed his feelings in a different way, but Law is cold, calculating and professional in his field, so it also transfers to his personal life. Yet, at the end of the day, he’s still a man. A man who likes to get his dick wet.
Visits to the doctor have never been more fulfilling. Law had asked you to meet him at his office so you guys could have lunch together, since the last days he’d been too busy to see you. He was tired and stressed, but the second he saw you it was like all that had melted away. He recognised the clothes you were wearing, a tight, really short dress you’d bought last time you went out, a nice pair of shoes and the very expensive bag he’d given you for your birthday.
In the blink of an eye, he had you against the bookshelf of his office. His cock reaching deep into your pussy and his lips attached your nipple, his thrusts were unforgiven and lacked rhythm. He felt like a horny teenager all over again.
“Holy shit, Law.” You tried to keep quiet, not wanting any patients or any other doctors to hear you. But Law was fucking you without a single care.
Books flew down to the ground, along with some frames, but nothing made him stop, “fuck, love. You feel so fucking good.” He moaned against your skin.

Note
I have a silly thought that I would like to share with you. Sometimes, I make random noises as a sort of verbal keysmash. Wouldn't it be funny if the verbal keysmashes were somehow Lemurian swear words? Or an old Philos curse?
Gibberish … Maybe?
How I imagine the LADS men reacting to you accidentally saying something in another language. Whole time you just made a random noise and have no clue what they’re even talking about. A/N: Imagine saying "manamana doot dee de dee tee" and they think you just cursed them out in a different language
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zayne
Doorways and staircases really suck sometimes because why did you completely forget what you came in the kitchen for as soon as you walked through the cased opening. You stood there dumbfounded and made a random noise which you could only refer to as a ‘verbal keyboard smash’
Zayne: Where did you learn that? MC: Learn what? Zayne: You just said ‘Forevermore’ in latin MC: I literally made the most random noise my brain could think of Zayne: That was latin clear as day MC: How the hell do you know latin? Zayne: I studied it MC: Why? Zayne: Why not?
From then on Zayne sends you random quotes in latin just to see if you can tell what they say. You keep telling him you never learned latin and have no clue what he’s talking about. After months of him teaching you bits of latin you two have your own little secret language now.
Tumblr media
Rafayel
Your brain must've stopped working for a second because here you are opening the oven with your left hand and reaching in with your right hand. The problem? The oven mitt is on your left hand. Just as the tip of your finger is about to hit the edge of that scalding hot cookie sheet you pull your hand back making the most random shocked noise.
Rafayel: What did you just call me? MC: What are you talking about? Rafayel: You just basically called me a barnacle muncher in glubbanese MC: Glubba what?! Rafayel: Who taught you that? MC: Nobody taught me anything what in the blue fuck are you talking about? Rafayel: Are you seeing other Lemurians? MC: I made a random noise Raf get outta my ear with all this
You turned to pull your baked goods out of the oven and set them on the stove. You quickly turned the oven off before turning back to him.
MC: Also aren’t you the only Lemurian left Rafayel: Me and my aunt Talia … wait!
He grips you by the shoulders
Rafayel: Was it her?! I knew it! I'll be back MC: NO! I-
You didn’t get the chance to finish your sentence as he turned on his heels and made a beeline for the front door. You try to stop him from storming out the door, but he was too fast. You stare at the door dumbfounded because you still have no clue what the actual fuck glubbanese is.
Tumblr media
Xavier
Xavier was the perfect body pillow to lean against while you read a book. Perhaps you were a little too immersed in your book because when the major plot twist came the most unintelligible string of gibberish came out of your mouth. You felt Xavier stiffen behind you which broke you immersion.
MC: What's wrong? Xavier: Why did you say that? MC: Say what? Xavier: You just said something rather strange in Philosian MC: I said what in philosophy? Xavier: I’d rather not repeat it MC: Xav I literally just made a random noise Xavier: Well that random noise is ‘hairy anus’ in philosian MC: WHAT???
You sat up so fast you somehow managed to fall off the couch hitting your elbow on the coffee table. Xavier pulled you back onto the couch checking to make sure you were okay before you notice the grin he’s trying to hold back. He finds this whole thing hilarious.
MC: Stop laughing! Xavier: I should’ve known you didn’t mean to say that MC: I didn’t say anything I made a random noise Xavier: I’m sure you’ll be more careful next time MC: If Philosian sounds like random throat noises then yea I guess I'll be more careful
Tumblr media
Sylus
You were laying on the plush couch in Sylus’ study while he was taking a few business calls. He said he would be done soon however the boredom was getting to you. With absolutely zero thought you blurted out a random noise. You didn’t think much of it until you looked over and saw Sylus starring at you; his brows furrowed and his head cocked. You sat up confused on why he was looking at you as if you’d just called him a no neck bitch or something.
Sylus: Where did you learn that? And when? MC: Learn what? Sylus: You just tried to curse me MC: I didn’t do anything…… Sylus: That was a curse in ancient Philosian MC: That was random gibberish Sylus: …. MC: Fix your face Sylus: Trying to get rid of me sweetie? MC: I’m not trying to do anything! Sylus: Unfortunately for you those curses don’t work on me you’ll have to try something else MC: What in the blue hell do you mean ‘try something else’ I didn’t try anything in the first place!
Ever since you supposedly tried to curse him in a language you’d never heard of he’s constantly teasing you. He checks in from time to time to see if you’ve taught yourself any new spells and you tell him the same thing every time.
MC: Sylus it was a random noise Sylus: Keep telling yourself that Sorceress

─── Lee Minho had always been a man who thrived in chaos. Corporate wars, high-stakes meetings, and PR disasters were his playground. But even he couldn’t have predicted the one nightmare he’d spent years running from would land right back in front of him, wrapped in a perfectly tailored suit, flashing a smile that had ruined him once before.
He could handle anything…
Except the one person who had, through one night alone, known exactly how to bring him to his knees.
Tumblr media
Lee Minho liked to think of himself as a man who could handle anything.
Corporate warfare? Child’s play. High stakes negotiations? His playground. He could charm billionaires over black coffee and through a simple peak of his collarbone, crush competitors with a smile, and walk out of a scandal cleaner than he went in, usually with a headline the press couldn’t stop foaming over.
Adaptability was his superpower. Precision, his trademark. Control? Non fucking negotiable.
At least, it had been, until you happened.
Again.
He stared at you, his supposed fiancé(e), the ghost of one of his most notable past mistakes, and thought—briefly, desperately—that maybe he was hallucinating. Maybe he had worked himself into a stress-induced psychotic episode, and in reality, he was rocking back and forth in his office chair while his assistant frantically called for medical assistance. Would he be embarrassed that this would be the second time this would be happening? Maybe. Would he atleast be overjoyed by the fact that you weren't standing before him, far more gorgeous than all those years ago? Absolutely.
But no. This was real. You were real. This was happening.
You were still standing there, looking just as horrified as he felt, though, annoyingly, still unfairly attractive. Time had been disgustingly kind to you. And you had that same look in your eyes as before, the one that told him you were about seven seconds away from causing him severe emotional distress. And possibly a boner. Although he wasn't drunk enough for that. Not yet, atleast.
His brain short circuited as he watched you approach the table. You, of all people. He had been expecting a stiff, glass-of-champagne, charity-gala kind of person. Not you—the human embodiment of bad decisions and incredible, incredible sex.
Minho could laugh. His parents had unknowingly betrothed him to his favourite one-night stand. Brilliant.
“You have got to be fucking with me,” you finally said, sliding into the chair across from him.
“I wish I was,” Minho muttered, picking up his glass of whiskey and downing half of it in one go.
“So,” you said, resting your elbows on the table. “Long time no see.”
Minho blinked at you. Long time no see? You were acting like you’d bumped into him at Tesco, not like you were about to be married to the man you once absolutely ruined in a hotel room after a night of reckless decisions and expensive cocktails.
You, who had once dragged him into a bathroom stall at some questionably pricey nightclub and ruined him for every person he fucked after. Which he unashamedly agreed, were a lot. And the worst part was perhaps, that he remembered everything. He remembered the way you had looked at him that night, like you knew exactly what you were doing, like you had been born to make him suffer in the best possible way. He remembered your voice, the way you had laughed at him when he’d tried to act cool and ended up tripping over his own shoes, too fancy for him at the time. And he remembered the morning after, waking up alone, the only trace of you being a note scrawled on hotel stationery that simply read:
cheers for that. 10/10. no notes.
Minho had never been so simultaneously offended and impressed in his life.
And now? Now he was supposed to marry you? Spend forever with you...or atleast attempt to?
He took another large sip of whiskey.
“So,” you said, eyes sparkling with amusement. “How’s life been treating you? Still a bit of a man whore, or have you finally learned to keep it in your tailored trousers?”
Minho inhaled sharply through his nose. “I am a legitimate businessman.”
“Ah, so still a man whore,” you mused, nodding sagely.
Minho chose to ignore you.
"This… is a mistake," he muttered, running a hand through his usually well tamed hair. "This has to be a mistake."
"Oh, absolutely. Because otherwise we'll have to tell our parents we can’t get married because we’ve already seen each other naked," you say, leaning back in your chair with an unimpressed look. The very same that had drawn Minho to you that night. Because who did you think you were? Ignoring his wit and charm as he sat in the club's sofa, basking in attention and alcohol? The arrogant lad had decided that night, to prove himself to you. And prove, he did. A decision he didn't otherwise regret...until now.
Minho groaned and tried to reach over to his glass of whiskey, only to realise you were already drinking from it. "I swear to God, this is karma. This is divine punishment for my past sins."
"Well, considering your past sins include half of Central London, yeah, probably," you said with a shrug, swirling the now empty crystal glass.
He glared at you, his eyes narrowing with a mixture of exasperation and disbelief. You, in contrast, beamed at him with the kind of saccharine sweetness that suggested you were enjoying every second of his suffering. Minho noted internally, that you'd make a terrible actor, given that while the smile made it seem as though he was the only one seconds away from throwing up, your bouncing knee gave you away.
Minho, for his part, looked as though his soul had momentarily left his body. He blinked slowly, like someone trying to wake from a very specific, very inconvenient nightmare.
"Right," he said eventually, clapping his hands together in a sharp, business-like motion, as though trying to galvanise himself into action. "Let’s get this over with. How are we going to get out of this engagement?"
You shrugged nonchalantly, as if the matter were no more serious than choosing what to have for lunch. "Run away to Spain? Fake your death? Oh! You could seduce my grandmother so she convinces my father to call it off?"
"I am not seducing your grandmother."
"Coward."
Before Minho could offer a retort—no doubt a scathing one—a waiter, appeared at your table. He was the very picture of refined hospitality: all polite smiles, pressed shirt cuffs, and the faint waft of expensive cologne that trailed behind him like a signature.
"Good evening. May I start you off with a drink?"
"Whiskey. Double. Actually, just bring the bottle," Minho said, without so much as a blink, eyes still on you.
"Make that two," you added, not missing a beat, but still being polite and stable enough to break eye contact with Minho and smile at the waiter.
The attendant gave a courteous nod and retreated, leaving behind a faint trail of bergamot and judgement.
Minho exhaled slowly and dropped his head into his hands for a moment before glancing up at you, utterly defeated.
"This is going to be a disaster," he muttered, as if saying it aloud might somehow lessen the blow.
Minho barely had a moment to wallow in the tragic comedy of his predicament — engaged, against all logic, to a person who had just suggested seducing their own grandmother — before reality doubled down.
It came in the form of a booming, far-too-cheerful voice that could only belong to one man.
“Ah, Minho, you’ve met your fiancé(e)! Wonderful!”
The words rang through the restaurant and Minho flinched so hard he nearly knocked over the cutlery. He didn’t dare turn around. There was no need. He knew that voice. That was the voice of a man who thought forced betrothal was not only acceptable, but downright romantic.
His father.
Minho visibly recoiled, gripping the edge of the table as if bracing for impact. He had to physically resist the very natural urge to bang his forehead repeatedly against the pristine linen tablecloth.
And then, his parents descended upon the table in full force — exuding money, control issues, and the smug satisfaction of people who had just solved a problem by creating three more.
His mother was dressed in a sleek, couture suit that probably required its own bank account, looking every inch the woman who judged people based on the mineral content of their bottled water. His father wore the expression of someone who’d just sealed a lucrative merger and genuinely believed his son should be grateful for it.
And then there was your dad.
Looking every bit like the kind of man who once tried to bribe a headmaster with a case of vintage wine and a framed photo of himself shaking hands with a minor royal. So what if you weren't the best at studies during school? Was it really your fault that your Physics teacher was a bigger bitch than daddy dearest here?
Minho had never met him before, but he looked exactly as one might expect the father of someone like you to look—sharp suit, sharper glare, and the quiet intensity of a man who considered emotional vulnerability a personal failure. He radiated a kind of heavy, generational disappointment, like someone who’d been sighing over your life choices since the moment you learned how to form opinions of your own.
“Hello, sweetheart,” your dad said, planting a quick kiss on your forehead, affectionate in the way a CEO might congratulate a junior employee for not burning the office down. Then he turned to Minho, assessing the man who was supposed to be his future son-in-law with a look that would've made 16 year old Minho audibly whimper.
Your husband-to-be, drawing out every ounce of his professionalism, business acumen, and carefully cultivated adult composure, managed to respond with:
“Hi.”
Brilliant. Smooth. Absolutely nailed it. James Bond could never.
Your dad, unsurprisingly, looked as though he’d just been personally insulted.
Minho’s own parents, however, were beaming across the table, undoubtedly proud of their matchmaking skills.
“This is perfect,” his mother gushed, settling into her seat like she’d orchestrated the entire evening herself (she had). “I knew you two would suit each other.”
Minho let out a laugh that could only be described as emotionally strangled. Suit each other? Yes, absolutely. Because nothing screamed long term compatibility like a one-night stand from his blackout phase that he'd spent the past few years actively repressing, only to now be legally tethered to it in holy matrimony.
“So,” your dad said, leaning back in his chair with all the gravitas of a man about to sign a trade deal. “Shall we discuss the terms of this marriage?”
Terms. Terms. Marriage. Minho wasn’t sure which part of that sentence he found more horrifying — the casual contract language or the undeniable implication that none of this was a joke.
Minho looked at you, searching your face for some kind of solidarity. Instead, he found you sipping your whiskey like it was just another Wednesday, eyes half-lidded, posture relaxed—like this whole thing wasn’t giving you heart palpitations.
But oh, it was.
You weren’t calm. You were resigned. You’d played this game before. You knew exactly how your father operated: charm first, control second, and condescension somewhere in between. This wasn’t a dinner—it was a business meeting. And you were already sick of it.
“Well,” his father said briskly, “the wedding will take place in three months.”
Minho choked violently on his drink. “Three months?!”
“Yes,” his mother replied smoothly, not even blinking. “Any longer and people will start gossiping.”
Gossiping. Of course. Because obviously, public perception was the real villain here.
“Three months is plenty of time,” your dad added, nodding with the calm authority of a man who hadn’t even asked how you felt about any of this.
Minho's brown eyed flickered to you again, looking for help. A hotline number. A hint of rebellion. Something. Anything.
You just smiled at him.
It wasn’t kind.
“Now then,” your dad continued, “what about a prenup?”
“Oh, absolutely,” Minho’s father nodded enthusiastically. “We’ll have our legal teams draft it immediately.”
“Yes, yes, that’s all well and good,” Minho cut in, finally finding the will to form sentences again. “But- do I get a say in this?”
His mother tilted her head in that familiar, patronising way that suggested she thought his input was adorable but entirely unnecessary.
“Minho, darling,” she said, her tone one of pure condescension, “this is for your own good.”
Your dad chimed in, nodding. “If either of you had a reliable romantic track record, we wouldn’t be here. But let’s be honest-” he waved a hand vaguely in your direction “-you don’t, and-” he turned to Minho, gaze sharp and deeply insulting,“-you certainly don’t.”
You smiled tightly, jaw clenched just enough that it hurt.
Minho felt his soul attempt to vacate his body. Right there. In the middle of this overpriced, mood-lit, jazz-playing nightmare of a restaurant. He was going to die. And the only thing good about a death here would be that Art Blakey was playing in the background.
“So it’s settled,” his mother said brightly, with finality in her voice, “Three months from now, we’ll have a wedding.”
Minho turned to you. You turned to him.
You raised your glass in a slow, sarcastic toast.
“To our bright and happy future,” you said, voice honeyed, but eyes suddenly cold.
And your father smiled like he’d just won. Because unbeknownst to the two of you, he had.
•━━━━━━━━━━━•
Minho had made a lot of terrible decisions in his life. A truly impressive number. Enough to warrant a multi-part documentary series, probably titled Lee Minho: A Lifetime of Questionable Choices—with dramatic re-enactments, ominous voiceovers, and a theme song that sounded like a slow motion car crash. His friends could probably star in it too.
But agreeing (not really) to marry you?
Oh, that was shooting straight to the top of the list. Hall of fame. Permanent exhibit in the Museum of Regret.
Because it had been barely twenty four hours since the disaster that was your engagement dinner, and already, he felt his life being ruined, one sarcastic comment at a time.
“So, how long have you two been engaged?” Felix asked innocently, if one could call anything Felix did innocent, while stirring sugar into his overpriced cold brew.
Minho looked up from his coffee, eyes already tired. He’d made the mistake of inviting you to brunch with his friends. In public. With witnesses. Clearly, he’d suffered a blow to the head.
“Oh, it’s been wonderful,” you gushed. You reached over to squeeze Minho’s hand like you actually meant it. Maybe you did. Minho didn't want to bother with the details if it meant another migraine. “We’ve been informally engaged for a whole, what, twelve hours now? It’s been magical. Truly life altering. I can’t wait to be legally bound to this man forever.”
Minho squeezed your hand back. Hard.
“Yes,” he deadpanned. “Overjoyed. Thrilled. Best day of my life.”
Felix, the little gremlin, grinned, his mind already turning your worrying marriage into a soap opera. “Well, it’s about time you settled down, hyung. You’ve been a menace to society for years.”
“First of all, that is highly inappropriate. I am a legitimate businessma-”
“Mate,” Chan, Minho’s business partner, cut in. “You once forgot a woman’s name mid-bloody-date.”
“And she had to remind you,” Hyunjin added, sipping his neon-green liquid. Whatever it was.
“And you still got her number,” Seungmin chimed in, looking vaguely offended on behalf of all women. You'd be sure to send his number to your recently heartbroken friend.
Minho groaned, pinching the bridge of his nose. Why had he thought bringing you to brunch was a good idea? Why had he brought you into public? With his friends at that? He had practically announced a 'Bully-Lee-Minho' day himself.
“Oh, don’t worry,” you said brightly. Too brightly. “He’s very devoted now. Wakes up every morning and just stares at me in awe, whispering about how lucky he is.”
Felix gasped, awestruck at the beauty of love at first sight. “Really?”
“Absolutely,” you said, smiling. “He even cries a little.”
Minho nearly inhaled his coffee. “I do not-”
“He does,” you said solemnly, giving his hand another squeeze. “It’s beautiful.”
Chan leaned back in his chair, way too entertained. “Well, I can’t wait for the wedding. Have you set a date?”
“Not yet,” Minho said quickly, cutting you off before you could say something like ‘we’re thinking next week, on a volcano.’ “We’re taking our time.”
“Oh, obviously,” you added, ever helpful. “We have to enjoy the honeymoon phase before I find out all his deep, dark secrets. Like his skincare routine, or lack thereof. Which I'll have to change either way. Or his browser history.”
Hyunjin gagged. “Please. Spare us.”
“No, no,” you mused, eyes alight with mischief. “I think he’s hiding something. Like a secret past. Maybe he was a failed K-pop trainee. Maybe he’s got a tattoo that says ‘Live, Laugh, Love.’ Or he owns a mug that says Boss Babe.”
"I actually gifted him that." Chan added, sipping his protein smoothie.
“Or if he has a pet rock named Gary, considering one of his girlfriends was Australian,” Hyunjin added and Chan nods proudly.
“Or an old TikTok account where he lipsyncs to early 2000s emo hits,” Seungmin said.
“I knew you gave eyeliner energy,” Felix muttered.
Minho buried his face in his hands. “Please. I am begging you all to stop.”
You just leaned in, resting your chin in your hand as you smiled sweetly. “Aww. He’s shy.”
Minho resisted the urge to walk directly into London traffic.
But even as the table erupted into laughter, and your brunch turned into an impromptu roast, something shifted. A cold thread of unease slid down Minho’s spine.
You were laughing, yes. Playing the part perfectly. But beneath the sparkle in your eyes was something else—something guarded. The way your smile didn’t quite reach all the way. The way your shoulders tensed every time someone mentioned the wedding, like the word itself had claws.
He couldn’t put his finger on it, not entirely. Maybe it was the text from your father that he had watched you ignore minutes ago. Maybe it was the transparent pants Hyunjin had worn years earlier making a reappearance in his head for some reason. Or maybe it was just his own overworked brain, spinning a conspiracy out of nerves and too much caffeine.
Whatever it was, Minho decided to shelve it for later. He had reports to review. Contracts to sign. A mountain of paperwork waiting for him and exactly zero emotional bandwidth to spare.
He’d figure it out. Eventually.
For now, he’d go home, finish his paperwork, and go to sleep.
Not knowing that what he’d wake up to would be far more fearsome than your father’s moustache.
Far, far worse.
Because somewhere, in a dimly lit security office, a grainy CCTV recording, dated four years ago, timestamped 2:14 a.m., was being uploaded by hands far too eager and far too vengeful.
A bed. A hotel logo in the corner. Two familiar silhouettes.
And the unmistakable beginning of the scandal that would burn everything to the ground.

Mingyu had a huge problem.
He had approximately forty-seven messages from his mom asking how many internships he had applied for. He wasn’t sure how to break it to her - but he had applied for absolutely zero. And he needed to come up with something fast.
He scrolled through his accounts, trying to think of someone who might have something. Anything. He was desperate.
He found himself scrolling through older photos. And he hit it. You. Of course, you.
You had a real job, and even if he wasn’t as close with your brother as he had been, there was at least some hope. Besides, he’d always kind of had a thing for you - the hot older sister - his one-time babysitter. He’d almost confessed to you once when he was drunk.
Maybe more than once.
To be fair, you’d also given him his first drink at a party he and your brother snuck into when he was fifteen, and you’d made sure that he hopped the fence when the cops showed up too, because “Your mom would kill you then me if we get caught.”
He’d hidden in the bushes with you for at least an hour before the coast was clear. You’d abandoned your brother to his fate.
He could still remember how close you’d been to him, the bitter citrus scent of your perfume, and your soft breathing as you held his arm in a vice-like grip, your hair tickling his cheek as you watched the cops grab a few kids from your class.
He smiled to himself and sent you a text - worst case was you left him on read.

hey how’s it going
It was 11 AM, and you were sipping your fifth cup of coffee for the day. ‘How was it going?’ - your client was a dick head and the partner reviewing your work was a cunt. You rolled your eyes as you typed out a text. This wasn’t the moment to go into the details with your little brother’s best friend.
[y/n]
uh busy what’s up
[mango]
can i ask a favor pls pls pls
You wondered what kind of favor would prompt Mingyu to text you out of nowhere. When had you even seen him last? Christmas, maybe - you had no clue.
[y/n]
sure but fyi not a criminal attorney
You sipped your coffee in the elevator wondering what he could need.
[mango]
ha ha […]
any chance for an internship ??
You had to keep yourself from laughing. You didn’t even know what his major was, but it wasn’t like he was after one of the serious internships, anyway. At least you didn’t think so.
[y/n]

You chewed your lip lightly. There were always a few really shit openings for undergrads with the research team.

You grinned, knowing exactly the annoyed way he would be staring at his phone.
[y/n]
hoodie or fuck off
You watched the dots appear and disappear over and over. You grinned, knowing he was struggling with it. You made it back to your desk and read through some emails while you waited for him to make his very serious decision.
[mango]
Okay deal but only if i get it
You grinned, knowing he would 100% get it. And you would finally get the hoodie that should have been yours anyway, if he weren’t such a little bitch.
[y/n]
oh negotiating […]
how cute […]
i’ll send the app this afternoon
You left your desk and headed for the research department.

Mingyu had no clue what to expect on his first day. But at least he knew his mom was happy. She’d made him promise to take you out for dinner as a thank you. He had managed to duck the idea of buying you a gift - he would have evaporated the moment he handed it to you. Old school stuff like that always made him feel awkward. Especially when it came to you.
He didn’t even want to think about how uncomfortable asking you to dinner would be. Besides, he was already parting with his favorite hoodie over this. Not that his mom had any clue that he’d basically traded his dignity to get this internship.
“Hey, come on, if you make me late, I will actually kill you,” you called from your suv.
He’d been checking his phone and hadn’t seen you pull up to the curb. Apparently, his ‘shitty’ walk up was on your way in, so you’d offered to pick him up and save him from the train.
He opened the passenger door and half expected you to say something about how he was dressed. Instead, you just waved him in impatiently. But then again, he wasn’t sure how dress slacks and a button-down could be offensive. He’d tried to look as generic as possible.
Getting in the suv with you gave him flashbacks to when you were the one doing carpool. He knew your solution to half of all life’s problems was to blast music. He literally knew what mood you were in based on your choices.
Even if you were both adults, some things apparently hadn’t changed. You were listening to what he would consider your ‘I’m-nervous-and-over-compensating-and-don’t-want-to-admit-it’ playlist. Any playlist of yours that included Lady Gaga was basically a lie - you were not confident, you were trying to get confident.
He wondered why, but he didn’t ask. Instead, he stared out the window, just like he always did when it was just you and him. Because that hadn’t changed either.
▶︎ •၊၊||၊|။|||||
Mingyu followed you in, but he kept his distance. He’d texted you the night before, and there’d been a mutual agreement that it was better if no one knew that he knew you and vice versa. He wasn’t even sure if he was catching a ride home with you or taking the train.
And there wasn’t really time to ask since he was almost immediately hustled into signing forms and being issued a laptop and an ID badge. He was given a tour and a manual and a bunch of other stuff.
He was in a cohort with five other interns. All of whom seemed considerably more interested in what was happening than him. Interested in a way that made him feel like he didn’t have his life together, maybe. It was uncomfortable.
It only got worse when they were dismissed for lunch. Suddenly, they were all discussing their backgrounds and the firm and the cases it had and people’s names started flying around. Mingyu just hung back, eating the sandwiches that had been set up in a conference room for them.
“Have you taken the LSAT yet?”
Mingyu wasn’t paying attention. The girl who asked waved at him to get his attention. One of the guys laughed.
“Sorry, what?” He asked.
“The LSAT, bro, have you taken it yet?” The guy in the blue shirt asked.
Mingyu shook his head.
The guy in the white shirt looked aghast. “What? How?”
Mingyu shrugged. “I’m a chemistry major on a PhD track - this is just a summer thing.” He trailed off.
They collectively stared at him like he’d grown a third head. And they seemed to turn away in unison and return to their conversation, as though he didn’t exist.
The rest of the day passed without issue. He definitely had work to do that night, though. The manual they had to review to even perform searches was hefty and full of esoteric shit.
He thumbed through it, thinking about how this was meant to be a break. He was missing out on doing nothing with his friends. Probably better to not have his mom nagging him, though.

▶︎ •၊၊||၊|။|||||
Mingyu stared at ‘bby’ for a solid twenty minutes. Even if he knew it was a joke, you saying it was always going to make his mouth dry and his stomach clench with a weird mix of excitement and nervousness.
He realized he’d never outgrown his crush on you. He thought he had, since he hadn’t really seen you lately. And without talking to your brother, he didn’t get all the little random details about you that he used to, even if he sometimes used to live for those details.
He thought those feelings had gone away.
He still followed you online, though. He always saw the notifications for the shockingly random photo dumps you posted and generally removed almost as fast. It was cute to him - you wanted to share, but also hated sharing. Something he was acutely aware of since it extended to roughly every facet of your life. You were capable of brushing off almost anything with a joke.
In fact, he was almost certain that the only times you were most at ease, and sharing freely, were probably on the last few trips both of your families had gone on together. When you were still a student and hanging out by the pool with him, while both of you were pleasantly buzzed and no one was paying attention to anything either of you did. No one noticed anything between you.
He glanced back at ‘bby’ one more time before forcing himself to crack the manual he’d been given. There was something about the smug looks he’d gotten at lunch that made him want to know this stupid thing inside and out before the next morning.
▶︎ •၊၊||၊|။|||||
[y/n]
hey come on before anyone realizes i’m still here
Mingyu rubbed his face and grabbed his stuff. He wasn’t sure what it was about being in this building, but he’d somehow made it almost completely through his reading, flagging things and highlighting them like he normally would for an exam.
[mango]
yep coming
▶︎ •၊၊||၊|။|||||
You hadn’t waited next to the elevators. You were tired. Besides, Mingyu could find his way to your car.
You still jumped when he tapped on the glass for you to unlock the door. That was one of those Mingyu-things - he never tried the handle like your brother would, pulling it fifty thousand times before you even had the chance to unlock the doors.
Instead, he always knocked lightly on the glass, which you’d once told him made him seem like a serial killer. But you’d also been in a bitchy mood.
You were probably in a bitchy mood now too because him taking any amount of time to get into your car and fasten the safety belt was literally killing your soul. You wanted to rush him along because you wanted to get home and face-plant on your bed.
But you didn’t. Mainly because you’d already heard through another associate how there was one intern who was “just here - can you believe that?” She’d looked so shocked over it, too. You had just nodded along, feigning shock.
You’d had to hide your smile because, really, the fact that he’d told them this was just a summer gig was just simply lovely. Truly, it warmed your heart and soul.
Because, yeah, not everyone wanted to be miserable with their life choices. You could only guess the reaction he’d gotten when he explained himself, though. Every intern here took themselves way too seriously.
“Good day?” You asked as you left the parking deck.
He sighed. “Is everyone a dick here?”
You laughed at this, shaking your head as you maneuvered out of the parking deck.
He turned in his seat to look at you. “I’m serious - it’s everyone, like, is it here or just the profession?”
You grinned because he was genuinely asking. “Yeah, I guess I could have warned you,” you mumbled as you turned onto a side street.
You realized you were heading to a restaurant you liked. Your subconscious had decided that Mingyu might need a chance to rant about his first day.
▶︎ •၊၊||၊|။|||||
He sat across from you, looking at the menu while you scrolled through your phone. He wondered if he could offer to pay - he had no idea.
He went back to the menu and finally landed on the idea that he should get what he wanted instead of worrying so much.
You ordered a filet with roasted tomatoes and asked for calamari and bread for the table. He ordered roughly the same thing.
He watched you put your phone face down. “So how was it really?” You asked, unfurling your napkin and situating it on your lap before you glanced back at him.
He rolled his eyes. “How do you think? I called everyone dicks, for starters.”
You smiled. “Right, yeah - you’re usually more optimistic.”
He shook his head. “No, they fucking suck, who takes themselves that seriously? It’s a research job. I have a research position as an undergrad - this isn’t new or special.”
You were grinning.
“What’s so funny?” He asked, sounding indignant.
You shrugged. “You’re not usually so animated.”
He rolled his eyes. “And fuck that manual too, by the way.” He whispered. He watched you just fully smiling, taking it all in, while he was incandescent over his experience.
“So did you do that speed reading thing you do?” You asked softly.
He pouted. “It’s not speed reading, it’s a marking system.”
“Mhmm, that helps you know all the high-level points faster, blah, blah, blah - I’m aware.” You responded and sipped your water, waiting for an actual answer.
“Yes, fine, I read while you were answering emails for three hours or whatever.” He complained.
You nodded. “I had someone send me edits, too, that’s why I was serious about leaving before anyone else saw I was still around.”
“Why is this your job?” He hadn’t exactly meant to say that out loud.
“Your guess is as good as mine at this point,” you murmured with a shrug.
“You have to enjoy something about it, right?” He asked, trying to make up for being so blunt.
You scrunched your face like you were thinking deeply. “Probably my paycheck,” you said with a shrug.
He had only been there one day and thought it was demoralizing. He’d only been there for a day and was miserable. He wondered how you were resigned to it like it was fate.
Food appeared, and neither of you were especially talkative during the meal. He offered to pay, but you waved him off. And then you dropped him home.
He spent the rest of the night reviewing the manual, marking it, and making his weird crib notes until he passed out.
He woke up in time to get ready and meet you. He was surprised that you greeted him with a bagel and coffee - you said it was for your mutual suffering, a sign of solidarity.
He was also impressed, or maybe flattered, that you seemed to remember he hated cream cheese and preferred the ones that had sun-dried tomatoes and Brie.
And that was roughly what it was like for the next few weeks. Until you got some new case and seemed to never be able to leave the office. You still picked him up most mornings, but he felt guilty about it.
Guilty enough that he brought along a box of the protein bars you liked one morning. And even standing on the sidewalk looking at them, it hit him that he knew more about you than he liked to admit. Like the flavor you like - lemon was, according to you, “the only flavor”- the rest were “gross.”
He went to three Duane Reades to find them.
He suddenly felt embarrassed because why was he bringing you food anyway, he asked himself.
It didn’t matter, though. There wasn’t time to change course. Instead, when he opened the back to throw his bag in, he made sure to tuck the box into your bag. Obviously, you would know who they came from, but at least he wouldn’t have to see you when you found them.

protein bars ? lemon too v cute of u
He immediately felt his face and neck heat up when he read the words ‘cute of u.’ He didn’t know how to reply or why the word ‘cute’ seemed to send him off the rails. But he had to leave for the world’s most awkward lunch anyway. He left his contemplation for later.
▶︎ •၊၊||၊|။|||||
He wouldn’t get to talk to you about the insane lunch he had until the next day, when you picked him up.
The way they offered things was wild.  He was still kind of amazed. It was flattering even if he didn’t give a fuck.
But if he stayed on as an intern, they would pay for all his study materials and classes. They would review his applications, give recommendations, a possible scholarship - it seemed endless.
It was extremely obvious they were trying to sell him on a career path. But it was still the most insane pitch he’d heard so far and the most generous.
And after his lunch, there was no hope for him and the other interns getting along. He was hated, full stop.
The way they looked at him when he had gotten back was unfriendly to say the least - they were all staring daggers. And somehow became more passive-aggressive with him.
He went for a long run after work and was still annoyed about it. He couldn’t wait until the next morning to talk to you.
So he decided to text.
He was lying in bed, comfortable after a long, cool shower, and you were probably still at your desk working to send out some last-minute request to a judge who seemed to hate your client.
He didn’t expect you to answer quickly, so he scrolled back through your messages with him.
He was surprised when he realized the already huge text chain that existed between him and you. He could scroll back to when he first messaged about the internship if he wanted, but that would literally take time.
He did stare at them, though, noticing how many more texts there were now compared to even a few weeks ago, the consistency (daily at least); there were more and more photos from him and from you. He scrolled and realized you were maybe the only person he really talked to that summer besides his roommate and a few close teammates.
He’d left half his friends on read since the summer started.
He chewed his lip as he scrolled back, remembering he still owed you his hoodie. The one from a tennis camp you both went to - you claimed he stole yours, which was patently bullshit. Yours was from a different year - it was a different color, even. He didn’t really care, though. He decided that you walking around in his clothes was maybe exactly what he wanted.
He sighed and rolled onto his stomach to read your response.

You were sure that he was fast asleep by the time you responded back on your way out of the office. Finally.
You’d also changed his contact name while you knew he was typing bricks that he would delete. You’d finally landed on ‘mingooo🥭’. A puppy emoji was too - you weren’t sure, but it was too something for you.
You were surprised he’d given up and resorted to a voice memo. He usually managed to get it down to something concise.
[y/n]
ahead of the game then tbh
You typed the quick response before driving home and crashing for approximately four hours before your alarm would go off, and you would get to wake up and do it all over again.

Mingyu was standing outside his building like normal, rocking slightly on his feet and checking his phone. It was strange for you to be late.
He checked his phone a few more times before deciding you must be running really late. He messaged you quickly to let you know he would grab the train.
He checked his phone while he stood on the platform, waiting for a message back, but didn’t see one. He tried not to think about how close he was to everyone else or the sweat that was already beading in the middle of his back.
He wondered if maybe you had overslept.
And when he finally got into the office, he took the stairs so he could pass by your desk. But there were no signs of you. Which was definitely weird.
He settled in at his desk before he headed for the stairwell when he was sure no one was paying attention. He had to call three times before you answered.
“What?” You whined in a raspy, sleep-filled voice.
He was caught off guard and answered without thinking.
“You sound like shit.”
You sighed. “Mmhm, it’s you. And thanks for that, great to know,” you said with a small laugh.
He closed his eyes tightly because why the fuck had he said that. “Sorry, I was”— he fumbled because what was he exactly? “Uh, just — are you okay?”
He wasn’t sure why asking you a simple question - a totally normal question - felt like such a big deal, but it did.
“Yeah, just sick today. I meant to tell you, but I apparently fell asleep mid-text,” you sighed, “sorry - was the train crowded?”
He debated describing just how crowded it was. It was the summer, so the trains were at their worst. The concept of any type of deodorant was not something universally agreed upon, and the train was the place where that fact slapped him in the face.
“A bit, definitely made me appreciate the rides from you.” He sounded so dorky.
He could hear you shifting around in bed. “I was waiting to hear more about your power lunch, guess I’ll have to wait.” You yawned.
He leaned against the wall, thinking for a moment.
“It was, yeah, something,” he murmured, glancing around the stairwell for a moment, chewing the inside of his lip. “What’s your address?” He blurted out.
“Why?” You immediately sounded defensive.
“You know mine.”
“For a legitimate reason - for all I know, you’re like my brother and will send a dancing clown with a telegram enumerating the ways I’m a bitch,” you whispered in a not so happy tone.
Mingyu had forgotten that particular prank. There were probably a lot of reasons he and your brother weren’t friends anymore, but the way he complained about you and reacted to you were definitely in Mingyu’s top five reasons.
He sighed. “I was thinking more like sending you soup, maybe some throat lozenges, you know, choices a normal functioning human might make when a friend is sick.”
You were quiet for a few beats. “You two really aren’t friends anymore, are you?”
He hadn’t told you that. “No, not for a while,” he admitted, staring down at his shoes. He felt guilty for not saying something sooner.
“Good. You’ve always been better than whatever bullshit he has going on - I never got why you put up with him after like sixth grade.”
Mingyu bit his lip gently. He knew exactly why he put up with your brother for so long. He shook his head, though. “So, let me send you stuff?” He asked, voice softer than he realized.
“Yeah, okay, I’ll text you,” you grumbled. He could imagine your pout.
He smiled to himself. “I can call you at lunch if you really want to hear about how things went,” he offered, suddenly feeling like he was out on a limb by asking.
You hummed. “No, don’t talk about it there - you could come by later if you want, though - maybe?” You didn’t sound very certain either.
He swallowed hard at the thought of going to yours. “Yeah, I have your address now, so I could do that.” He was surprised his voice didn’t crack while he mumbled to himself.
You laughed quietly. “You’re cute when you’re embarrassed over something.”
He flushed even harder. “I’m not embarrassed.”
“You totally are,” you giggled, “aww, Mingyu’s going to a girl’s house, O-M-G guys,” you whispered teasingly.
“Fuck off,” he whispered, smiling.
“Okay, sorry, I’m sure you’ve been to a girl’s place before, at least once anyway,” you said calmly.
“I have actually, shocking as it may be to you,” he retorted, shaking his head because what was happening in this conversation, he wondered. It felt very close to flirting.
You sighed. “Yeah, I remember the one when you were a first year - you really know how to ignore every red flag”—
“And you know how to find every asshole with a guitar and mommy-issues within a six-block radius,” he shot back, cutting you off.
You genuinely laughed at that. “Nice, right, totally valid,” you sighed softly, “anyway, go be passive-aggressive with your little friends - I’ll see you later?” He could hear the question in your voice.
He nodded. “Mmmh, yeah, see you later.”
He stayed where he was for several minutes after the call, his heart beating faster than normal. He had no clue what he was doing. None at all. He didn’t know what it would be like to be alone with you, not really.
He only had guesses and close moments that always seemed to slip away from him at the last second. So he had no clue what it was like to actually be alone with you. Or what it meant for you to invite him over.
Probably nothing, he tried reassuring himself as he walked back into the office and sat down to start his day. You just wanted to know how his lunch went, like the first night when you’d taken him to dinner so he could talk about all the ways he hated his first day and his coworkers.
He chewed his lip lightly, thinking about other times when you’d done the same. He could actually admit to you when he hated something or when it made him miserable. He’d missed that.
So even if he didn’t know what anything meant, he still sent you things. Soup and dumplings. And some donuts from a place he felt like you would like. Sweet things, warm things, in his mind, it would make you feel better.
That and the cold medicine he sent - it would at least knock you out for some sleep you were probably desperately in need of.
▶︎ •၊၊||၊|။|||||
You spent most of the day on your sofa feeling like absolute shit. You’d dragged your duvet with you from your bedroom, though, and were cozy, falling in and out of sleep while sitcoms played in the background.
You got random messages from Mingyu throughout the day. It was really sweet that he sent you meds. And food. Amazing, wonderful, delicious food.
You forgot how cute he was. Sort of - you had spent time forcing yourself to avoid remembering what he was like. So a simple act of self-preservation, really.
If you were being honest, though, you’d always liked him generally. He was the one friend your brother made who wasn’t a prick or a creep.
You weren’t even that far apart age-wise, like a year and a half maybe? Or was it two years? You couldn’t remember exactly.
You’d just been skipped ahead a few times and graduated high school early. It worked out to you being several grades ahead. You were in college while he was in high school.
You flicked through episodes of a show, thinking how weird everything was then, even if you weren’t technically that far apart. It was like being at two different stages of life, but still close enough to each other for things to be messy.
And it hadn’t helped that you had decided quickly that you weren’t going to be that one girl who said her boyfriend was in high school.
Even if you really, really liked him. And you kind of knew he really liked you, too.
That thought instantly filled you with deep regret. Because you had known. You felt tears form and dry against your skin as they made little trails.
You didn’t love thinking about then - how you already felt weird enough being younger than everyone else at your uni, so of course you pushed away someone who might make you seem weirder, even if he was tall and pretty and probably your favorite person. Better than every awkward and awful date you’d ever had courtesy of one roommate. You swallowed hard, not wanting to relive those moments when it was so obvious that you missed him.
Instead, you stared at the tv, knowing it hadn’t felt like such a huge gap that summer, at least. It had reminded you of what it was like when you were kids, and it hadn’t really mattered that you were in fifth and he was in third because you were still really good at playing tag and Sonic, which made up for anything else.
But you had no clue if he still liked you, and you weren’t going to assume anything. Because that was something else entirely at this point. Especially since you hadn’t kept up with him really, so why would he, anyway. You were surprised he even had your number still.
Luckily, you passed out before you could keep thinking about it. Or anything else for that matter.
You woke up when you heard your doorbell, and wrapped yourself in a blanket before getting up to answer it.
He was standing there, and even if you weren’t sick, you would have had the same curious feeling like your stomach suddenly dropped through the floor. Because you’d invited him over - so you’d clearly lost your fucking mind. You wondered if you could blame the cold meds.
Because there was no avoiding that he looked handsome in business dress. But then again, a crisp collar could do a lot for most men. Every single partner at your firm was a testament to that fact.
But it wasn’t just that part because, since when was he like broad-looking, you wondered. Tall, yes - you knew about that - his height was old news. But when did he start looking ripped? That was new, you were fairly sure.
You realized he was looking at you, too. “You really are sick,” he said, stepping closer, his hand going to your forehead like he was your concerned mother.
Leave it to him to say something caring while you were ogling his shoulders and arms. You rolled your eyes and tried waving him off. “No shit,” you mumbled, pulling away, “what did you think?”
Eugh, you sounded even worse than you had earlier in the day. And it wasn’t just you who noticed because his face immediately shifted. And his hand went, annoyingly, back to your forehead.
“That you were tired? Overworked?  Exhausted? I don’t know - I could keep guessing, but you’re really warm.” His voice was too soft and somehow full of concern with a hint of judgment. “Maybe you should go to urgent care,” he mused.
You shook your head. “I’ll be fine tomorrow,” you said as you stepped back towards the living room, leaving him to lock up.
“Should I just assume you don’t own a thermometer?” He asked as he walked into the living room. You were safely back in your cocoon then, peering out at him like a cat hiding from its owner.
“Yes, mom, it’s a safe assumption,” you mumbled from your hiding place.
He rolled his eyes, scrolling and clicking around on his phone like he was the only adult in the room. It made you feel very petty towards him - like maybe you wanted to throw something at him, like a pillow, nothing serious.
But he was right - you were sick and finding a thing to even throw required energy you didn’t have.
He was still annoying, though. Even when he finally sat down. And when he suddenly pulled you over to him, because since when did he do things like that anyway, you wondered.
You were too weak to argue, though. Instead, you leaned into him, enjoying the way he rubbed your back. And how warm he was, and how nice he smelled.
So what if you nuzzled closer to him? And enjoyed the fact that he was maybe petting you. You were sick. And he was being nice.
Simple.

The University radio was your kingdom. From eight o'clock in the morning, your voice filled campus frequencies, informing and entertaining sleepless students with your brilliant spirit and sharp tongue.
"Good morning to all listeners! Here is your favorite student radio to speak to you, the voice of the University of Seoul, and today we talk about him... the mysterious vigilante who is making the news crazy. He wears a black suit, moves in the shadows, and helps people but... let’s face it, he's not exactly the classic hero. Some say that he is a savior, like all the people he is saving. Like the little girl who was saved while a deranged man was kidnapping her and others that he is a monster. What do you think?" said pausing and announcing the new comeback of a K-pop band.
Across the glass, in the small waiting room of the radio, Jake and Sunghoon sat on a crumpled couch, listening to you with funny smiles. They both had coffee in their hands and backpacks lying next to them, waiting for the lessons to start later.
'Again with this story?' Sunghoon snorted, stretching. 'Maybe it’s just a mockingman who dresses up to avoid getting caught.'
-Or maybe it’s a real anti-hero! - Jake said, giving you a fun look. -Like... Batman but even darker.-
You smiled, swiping your finger on the keyboard as you read the live comments. "I think it’s hiding something big. What if it was someone we know or who goes to the same university as us?" you asked with a flash of curiosity in your eyes.
Jake and Sunghoon exchanged a quick, understated glance. They looked like they knew more than they wanted to admit and certainly did not want to be discovered by anyone that they were hiding a secret even bigger than themselves.
-Hey, stop making a thousand theories of the plot and then who knows, it could be anyone...- said Jake with a fake innocent air to misdirect the conversation
'Yep, it could be anyone,' added Sunghoon, shrugging.
"But I would pay gold to see it live, I would like too much to see those tentacles and also how he shoots the webs from his hands," you said as you saw the two guys not looking at your face anymore.
"You two are too suspicious. Don’t you know him? Or that you saw him in action? You stepped forward, narrowing your eyes. But before they could answer, the broadcast timer told them that the next song had to start. "And now, folks, I leave you with a piece that has shaped generations as well as Thriller by Michael Jackson. Stay with us!"
You press the button to start the song, then you shoot your fingers towards your roommates. "Okay, now you’re talking. What are you hiding? Have you ever seen him live?"
Jake chuckled and took a sip of his coffee. -Come on, don’t be a detective. Simply, maybe this guy has his reasons for doing what he does and I think that if you saw him live on one side you would be happy because it would save your life but on the other hand according to me you would be afraid if you found him in front of you with all his tentacles and with his Hands that shoot webs- and he laughed at Spiderman’s gesture
You looked at them suspiciously but at the same time you laughed to see Jake so happy, you were ready to press them again, but just then the door of the radio studio opened with a squeak.
Jay made his entrance as if he were the protagonist of a movie, with ripped jeans, and black leather jacket, the usual guitar strap, and the lethal look that could make you shiver and infuriate at the same time.
«Interesting conversation yours,» said Jay with a low voice and loaded with sarcasm, crossing his arms.
«I hope I have not interrupted anything important»
"Oh, nothing," you replied, approaching him with defiance. "Just speculations about our mysterious vigilante friend. Who knows, maybe you know him too. Have you seen how everyone is talking about it?"
Jay tilted his head to the side with an almost amused smile. «I? I have no time for this bullshit, I’m too busy with music and that vigilante should be more careful because every time I hear the news, the police are getting closer to finding his identity» And with that phrase he took your coffee and drank it all and went away throwing you a glance that made you shiver.
That night, outside of Seoul, the storm was raging. You were alone in the house: Jake, Sunghoon, and Jay had all.
Jake was definitely at the university football training, Sunghoon would have been around the city shooting as a model and well Jay would have been in his music office composing music for some record company. The shared apartment with those 3 guys was always full of screaming, laughing and people but that night you were at home alone and you sincerely missed spending time with them; It was for weeks that in the evening they came back late or only one of them returned and you understood that life as a student and worker was different from that of the high school but sometimes you just wanted to spend time with them like in the old days.
You sat on the couch with your phone in hand, carelessly scrolling through Twitter until a trending video caught your attention. A boy along with the vigilante or "Black Spider-Venom" so named by everyone on social media was wearing his black suit and he was saving people in a bank from robbers: he was blocking a car on the way, He stopped a criminal with dark tentacles and protected a woman with a black barrier of spider webs.
Stay glued to the screen for almost an hour, reading comments and police statements.
The police had been saying for days that the superhero or "monster" was between 20 and 25 because they found a backpack with university books but the fatalities were books used in all universities of the state and a snack boy who did sports. So you thought that this guy had two personalities: one was the student who could be anyone and the other a superhero who tried in every way to protect people but also had a dark side as well as the emphasis from Venom and Spiderman.
A deafening thunder shook the house, and you clenched your phone. Then you heard the front door open.
Jay was there, soaking wet, his hair stuck to his forehead, his face marked by fine scratches. You knew that Jay was a boxing athlete and that he trained meticulously but it was strange to see him with scratches and split lips, you tried to talk to him but he closed the door in the face of the bath and sighed and waited anxiously. When he came out, he was wearing a jumpsuit, an old 80’s band shirt that he loved so much and his hair was still wet. He made to go to his room, but you blocked the way.
Jay looked at you with a funny grin. «Problems?»
"What’s the matter?" you asked, crossing your arms, his face was full of small scratches, his lip slightly split and covered with blood and also his hands were bruised
He shrugged his shoulders. «I slipped while boxing, you know it’s not a princess sport and sooner or later you can get hurt and I took a good punch while I was training because I wasn’t careful.» said in a too-serious tone.
You sighed, holding your arms. "I don’t believe you, I know how boxing works, and ok the lip can also stand but those scratches?"
Jay laughed softly, coming one step closer. He was towering over you, the height difference was embarrassing. It was enough of a gesture to grab and push you against the wall.
Why did you always have to stick your nose everywhere? Thought Jay, irritated. He could not stand your insistence, your way of talking to him as if you could decipher every thought.
But beneath his irritation was something else. Something darker. Venom whispered inside him, hungry.
It is small... fragile. We could break it or make it our own.
Jay chased away those thoughts with a deep breath, but the voice inside him laughed. He made to open the door of his room, but you grabbed his wrist and dragged him into your room. "Sit down. I will take care of you."
He nodded, looking at you with a shadow of amusement. But inside him, Venom was agitating. How nice it would be to see her below us, to hear her tremble, fill her until she can’t think of anything but us...
Jay clenched his jaw. Fucking symbiote...he thought as he saw you go back to your room with the first aid kit you used to disinfect the beatings that Jake was getting, as well as your cousin at soccer or perhaps in some other way but did not deny that the idea was damn inviting to have you all for himself as he so desired.
You took the first-aid kit and sat next to Jay. He looked at you with his usual funny grin, the air of not taking anything seriously, but there was something strange in his eyes. Something darker. Deeper.
You grabbed his hands to disinfect them and only then did you notice how big they were compared to yours. Your little fingers almost seemed to get lost against his venous hands, with corns here and there for the hours spent playing guitar.
"Wow, you have huge hands," you murmured distressingly, focused on passing the cotton ball over the bruises.
Jay laughed softly, tilting his head. «And you are really small.»
You looked up at him, crossing his dark eyes staring at you with something undefined.
He was teasing you, as usual, but this time there was a different intensity in his words. He seemed... amused, yes, but also curious.
Jay wondered how it was possible that someone like you, so noisy, cheeky, stubborn, could be so delicate in gestures. He was annoyed by how your presence penetrated his skin, like a melody that could not get out of his head. Yet, there was something about you that irritated and attracted him at the same time. Ever since he first met you in the park when you fell off the slide, With the knee peeled and tears running down your face had thought about how dramatic you could be but to the same inside he had promised that he would never want to see you cry again because he would make sure to protect you.
Venom, on the other hand, had completely different thoughts. He was intrigued by you, by your apparent innocence, by your small body that moved with lightness beside him. Jay’s dark side only wanted one thing: branding you, making you his. He imagined you under him, bent to his will, your skin marked by his bites. And the more he tried to ignore it, the more that desire became overwhelming.
You rubbed the scratches gently on your face with disinfectant. Jay stood still, letting you do it, but your gaze lingered for a moment on the mark on his neck, that little dark spot in the shape of a heart or perhaps a butterfly. You bit your lip without realizing it, the indecent thought that crossed your mind was instantaneous and unstoppable. How good would it have been to kiss her? Lick her? Suck her?
You got yourself right back, driving those thoughts away. You shouldn’t have them. Not on him.
You have known him for more than 10 years and you have always found him annoying but it was a while ago that you found him extremely attractive and this thing made you go crazy because he wasn’t even your type with his character "I know everything."
Just then you passed the cotton swab over his split lip and Jay barely moaned, a low, involuntary sound that made you shudder. His breath became heavier, and you noticed him moving, escaping your touch as if he didn’t want to let you do it. It was frustrating.
"Stop moving," you snapped with an exasperated sigh. "Don’t be a baby," you warned him, but you knew he was doing it on purpose.
Jay smiled dangerously. «Don’t be a caring mom. I didn’t know you liked taking care of me.»
"I don’t like it, but if you don’t stand still I can’t finish."
Without thinking about it you put yourself on his legs, only to keep him still and be able to finish the job. But as soon as you did, you knew you’d made a mistake.
Jay curled under you for a moment, before relaxing and bowing his head with a grin that made you tremble.
«Oh... baby, that was a big mistake on your part,» he murmured in a low and husky voice, his hands slid naturally over your thighs, just clutching them but you felt a lot of chills go through your body because of his touch.
His rational side knew that he had to stop, that it was just a game of provocation between you. But Venom... Venom didn’t want to stop at all. He wanted to taste you, feel your body give in under his grip, and hear every sound you could make for him.
«Tell me, what do you think of that guy?» asked Jay, with a mischievous grin as he heard you disinfect him carefully
You bit your lip. "It’s... intriguing. After all, it is for everyone, isn’t it?" you said looking at his expression.
Jay nodded slowly. «Yeah. Maybe a little too much.»
You raised an eyebrow.
"Well, when something spectacular happens it always ends up on social media. That’s normal."
Jay bowed his head, his piercing gaze. «And you’re happy about it, aren’t you? You can’t wait for something exciting to happen to snoop around and talk about it on the radio so are you happy to have new material for your show?»
You smiled. "Sure. I love my work, both on radio and social media."
Jay came a little closer, his fingers slid down your back in a barely perceptible touch. «You’re too curious,» he murmured. «You also have the habit of asking too many questions.»
"Informed," you corrected.
«Curious,» he repeated, bowing his head with a clever smile
You looked him straight in the eye. "What questions?"
He chuckled. «I see and hear the questions you say you would ask if you found him in person: Who is he? Where does he come from? Why does he do it? What is it like to live two lives? What is it like to have the human part but also the monster part inside? You would like to find out, right?»
You raised your chin in defiance "Maybe yes, you know I was always too curious when we were little"
Jay shook his head, his eyes became darker. «You know, girls who are too curious have a bad end»
You didn’t look down. "I’m not afraid."
Jay was silent for a few seconds, then smiled. «You should.»
You came even closer, challenging him. "I’m afraid of murderers, rapists... not a boy who transforms to save people."
Something changed in him. His breath became heavier, his eyes shone with a dangerous light. Maybe it wasn’t just Jay at that moment Maybe it was something else.
A soft growl made its way through his lips, a low, almost animalistic sound. Venom was emerging. He wanted to test you, to see if you really wouldn’t be afraid when you were in front of him. And Jay couldn’t stop touching you, tightening his grip on your thighs, imagining what it would be like if he gave in to his instincts.
It was at that moment that something changed in Jay. His gaze became darker, more intense. Without giving you time to understand, Jay grabbed your face in his hands and smashed his lips on yours. The kiss was sudden, hungry, almost brutal. There was not only Jay at that moment. There was also something more dark, something more dangerous.
His hands clenched around your hips, holding you glued to him, while his tongue invaded your mouth with a security that made your head turn. You couldn’t even think. All you could do was hold on to him, arms around his shoulders, while your body instinctively reacted to contact.
You felt his fingers sink slightly into your skin, exploring every curve with a possession that made you shiver. Every touch sent sparks down your back, and before you knew it, your body was starting to respond to his.
"Jay..." moaning against his lips when you felt something hard press under you.
Jay smiled at your mouth, but there was something more. That smile wasn’t just his. It was also Venom’s.
His lips fell down your neck, initially leaving gentle, almost sweet kisses. But then the kisses became more insistent, more possessive. You felt him sucking, biting your skin slightly, marking you, leaving marks. Signs that no one else could have erased and you still didn’t know what you were getting into.
Jay’s lips were hot, and hungry, moving on yours with disarming security. His taste was intense, the breath barely altered as his hands clenched more tightly on your thighs, holding you firmly against him. Every touch of it seemed to leave a mark on your skin, an invisible mark that made you shiver and want even more.
He detached himself from you only for a moment, his dark eyes full of something indecipherable, a mix between the Jay you knew and another presence that seemed more and more domineering.
«Tell me...» he murmured, his voice was husky, charged with something that made you tremble and light at the same time. «Would you like to interview Venom?»
You looked at him with a mixture of curiosity and excitement, the chest rising and falling faster. "Yes," you answered without hesitation, with the desire to dig into that mystery that attracted you like a magnet. "I would ask him a lot of questions."
Jay smiled, but there was something dark behind that grin, a shadow that fascinated and frightened you at the same time. A hand slid under your shirt, fingers touching the bare skin of your side with an exasperating slowness. You shivered and he noticed it, lowering himself slightly to whisper in your ear.
«Venom has never been interviewed by anyone...» he paused, letting his warm breath caress your skin. «And if he did, he would want something in return.»
You looked into his eyes, your heart beating hard in your chest. "How do you know?" you asked, even if deep down you already sensed the answer.
Jay tilted his head to the side, his smile became sweeter, but no less predatory. "Maybe because Venom is much closer to you than you think.»
And as he said it, the change came before your eyes.
The black of the suit seemed to emerge directly from his skin, wrapping it in a slimy and eerie embrace, making it look bigger, more imposing. The symbol of Spider-Man shone on his chest, his body now a perfect balance between muscles and the dark power of Venom. But his face, which was still uncovered, as if he wanted you to see the man behind the monster.
Your breath stopped in your throat when you felt something cold and sinuous slip under your shirt.
A black tentacle touched your bare skin, caressing you with an exasperating slowness, making you shiver.
Jay- or maybe Venom- looked at you with bright eyes, his voice now more guttural, deeper.
«I want you all to myself,» he murmured, and her tone was an obscure promise. «And not only today.» His hands came back on you, stronger, safer.
«You may ask me any question,» he added, a mischievous grin spreading on his lips. «To Venom... or Jay.»
Your hands trembled as they slid over the black suit, feeling the strange but fascinating texture of the living material that enveloped it. It was warm under the fingers, pulsating as if it had a life of its own. When your fingers touched his biceps, the consistency changed, revealing the hard and sculpted flesh of his muscles.
Without thinking too much, you started sliding the suit off, slowly discovering her body. And fuck... it was beautiful. Perfect in an almost surreal way, with the skin stretched on defined muscles, some scratches here and there, and those damned tentacles that seemed to move with a will of their own. But for some reason, you didn’t feel scared. Maybe you should have, but the idea didn’t even occur to you.
Jay looked at you with a mixture of surprise and something else, something darker. «You... aren’t afraid?»
His rational part was confused, but Venom... Venom was damn smug. You could feel it in the air, in the tension between you. Her already overblown ego seemed to grow even more when she saw you so close, so curious instead of terrified.
You leaned over him, letting your lips touch his skin. Your warm breath tickled his neck as you began to kiss the heart-shaped birthmark perhaps a butterfly- that he had there. Jay closed his eyes for a moment, a sigh escaped from his lips, but when he opened them again there was something more dangerous in that look.
«You’re getting into trouble, you know?» he murmured in a husky voice.
I murmured in a hoarse voice. «Because when I fill you... it will not be just me.»
Those words made you shiver, but you did not stop. You continued to kiss his skin softly, savoring the warmth of his body. You looked up at him, your eyes shining with curiosity.
"Who did you save today?"
Jay barely smiled, a crooked smile, almost amused by your attempt to distract him. «A bank. There was a robbery.»
Annuded, without stopping to leave him little kisses on the tense muscles. He was seriously the vigilante, you had had him in front of your eyes for a long time and your doubts had come to light some time ago but you finally knew the truth. When your lips touched a scratch, he made a slight movement, almost imperceptible.
"Then you did a good job," you whispered, sliding your fingers over another mark on her skin.
Jay bowed his head, looking at you. «Do you want me to make the tentacles disappear?»
For a moment you considered the idea, and then you looked up at him with a curious smirk. "Venom would be happy if you let go of your tentacles?"
His expression changed. Jay puffed, but his eyes darkened slightly as a tentacle slowly brushed your back under your shirt. «Yes,» he admitted. "It would be.»
He paused, then added in a lower tone: «It’s hard to live with two personalities. Venom only comes out when I transform... Otherwise, I’m just the usual Jay.»
You looked at him, tilting your head slightly. "So, in a way, you are two different people?"
Jay stared at you, then smiled. «You’re not stupid at all, are you?»
You were winning. You felt it. You were asking questions, asking questions, taking him exactly where you wanted. But what you didn’t expect was that, at some point, Venom would notice. And it wouldn’t have worked out for him.
Your lips kept coming down her body, tracing a line of kisses on her warm, scratched skin. When you reached his navel, you heard Jay moaning softly your name, his irregular breath against your neck.
«You’re playing with fire, you know?» he murmured, his voice roaring, crossed by a thread of fun and something darker.
But before you could answer, a deep growl vibrated in the room.
"You’re too slow, Jay," Venom hissed into the boy’s mind. "This prey is ours. We must claim it."
Jay clenched his jaw, trying to maintain control. But he knew it was impossible with you. With you, Venom had too much desire to emerge.
Then, without warning, he pushed you gently backward, making you lie down under him. His dark eyes were burning reflections of something more primordial. More dangerous. You instinctively caressed his hair, your fingers intertwining between the dark locks. Jay closed his eyes for a moment, as if he wanted to taste your touch but it was only a moment.
When he opened them again, a grin cut off his lips.
«Do you realize what you’re doing?» he whispered, lowering her head to the edge of your ear. «Do you know how tempting you are? Or maybe... are you doing it on purpose?»
Its length rubbed against thy center, and thy breath broke.
Venom chuckled in Jay’s mind. "Look how she reacts. So hot. So ready. She’s ours. I want to hear her pleading."
Jay swallowed, fighting the way Venom was trying to overwhelm him. But he was on the edge of the abyss too.
«I can’t wait to fill you up,» he said in a loud, low, hypnotic tone. «Both me and him.»
His hands slipped on your hips, holding you tight as he lifted you slightly towards himself. His fingertips drew fire lines on your naked skin.
He took off your shirt slowly, with a deliberate slowness that made you shudder. Then he looked down at you, his eyes shining with desire.
«You are so sensitive,» he murmured, his lips resting on your hard buds, his tongue caressing them, his teeth teasing them with sweet cruelty. «Tell me, how will you take all of me?»
You rolled your back, "Jay" a moan escaped from your lips and inside him, Jay was struggling. A part of him wanted to take you with an almost painful sweetness, like a cat that enjoys teasing his prey before giving it the final blow but Venom... did not want to play. Venom wanted to eat you and you didn’t know what you were into.
His lips moved along your skin, descending ever lower, leaving a trail of warm and possessive kisses. Jay’s breath deepened as it reached your breasts, his tongue drawing circles around your tight buds before wrapping them completely.
You moan his name, your head slightly bent backward, your senses now completely overwhelmed by him.
Jay looked up at you with a satisfied grin, his eyes shining with something darker, deeper.
«Call me as you like,» he whispered, his voice stinging and dangerous. «Jay... or Venom.»
His tone made you shudder, but you nodded, hands still clinging to his hair. " Yes..." you murmured, your breath broken by excitement.
Jay smiled at your skin before coming down again, his hands caressing you with exasperating slowness. He took off your pajamas without haste, enjoying every second that your body revealed itself to him.
Then he looked down at your exposed center and a lascivious whisper slipped from his lips.
«You are already so soaked...» he muttered, the fingers that touched your intimacy with a light but devastating touch. «It is so sensitive... only for me.»
He looked at you carefully, tilting his head slightly.
«Tell me...» whispered, the fingers that kept exploring you without ever giving you enough. «Have you ever thought of me in this way?»
His question hit you in the chest. Your breath stopped, and for a moment there was only silence between you. Then, with a slight movement of the head, you nodded no.
But you couldn’t stand his gaze.
Inside him, Venom hissed amused. Liar.
Jay laughed softly, but his eyes were dark, full of something that made you tremble. «You are a terrible liar,» he said with a smirk. «I see how you look at me.»
And without giving you time to answer, he slipped a finger inside you.
A moan immediately escaped from your lips. "Venom..."
Jay smiled. Or was it Venom?
«Good girl,» he whispered against your skin, while his finger moved slowly inside you, exploring you, testing every reaction.
You shudder, the heart pounding in your chest. " Perhaps... in the past..." your voice was trembling, full of desire, "I... I fantasized about you..."
Jay laughed, satisfied, while inside of him Venom was boiling with pleasure.
«Oh, honey,» whispered Jay, his mouth back to bite your neck, leaving red marks on your skin. «You belong to me now.»
Venom became more brazen, his desire almost tangible. You are ours.
Jay’s breath was erratic, his body tense as he watched you with those deep dark eyes. Venom, however, was scrambling to take control. You felt his presence, a hungry shadow growing in him, ready to claim you.
"Look how fragile she is... so small in our hands," the voice of Venom resounded in the room, low and guttural. "It’s ours. Nobody else can have it, nobody else can touch it."
Jay clenched his jaw, fighting with the creature inside him. "Venom, calm down."
"No," hissed the symbiote. "Can’t you see what he calls it? He wants us both. He wants to feel us inside him. Why should we wait?"
Wet and sloppy sounds fill your ears and Jay’s as he pumps another finger into you, Jay feels how well you took it and how excited your pussy was as he pumped and curls his fingers up and down, Your legs are wriggling as you hear Jay’s tongue slowly pinch and suck on your swollen clitoris for the stimulation you’re receiving, Contrast the muscle with a moan so pronounced that Jay could come all on himself because it was for whole months that he dreamed of hearing your moans, Instead Venom from the first day you met you had thought about how beautiful you were and how much he would want to make you feel good but at the same time take you and make you his and fill you.
"mmhm! It’s too much, I need to come" Your eyes spill into the skull as you feel your body be pervaded by shivers and feel your excitement slowly increase as you come between Jay’s fingers. Jay took his fingers full of white cum into his tongue and tasted you.
«delicious,» he said to you with a rock voice and a shiver ran across your back as Jay touched your face with his fingers, his warm fingertips on your skin. «Are you all right?» His voice was sweet and worried, but there was something deeper in his eyes. Desire.
You looked at it and nodded slowly. "I want both."
It was all that Venom needed to hear. A low growl vibrated in Jay’s chest as the symbiote took over, his hands clenching tighter on your hips. " You hear that, Jay? She wants it. She wants to be ours."
Your trembling fingers slid along the elastic of his suit, slowly lowering it down with his boxers. Your breath stopped for a moment when you saw it in its entirety.
"Fuck... will it fit me completely?" whispering, biting your lip as you watched.
Jay laughed softly, shaking his head. «Only you could make fun of me at a time like this.»
You curled your lips, letting your fingers slide along its length before gently squeezing it and starting to pump it with slow movements, knowing exactly how to make it go crazy. You felt his breath getting heavier as the pre-sperm liquid started to wet the tip.
"I want you..." you said in a low, sensual voice, moving closer to his ear. "But I want both the Jay and Venom parts."
Jay held his head for a moment. «Are you sure?»
You bit your lip, brushing its chest with your nails. "I wouldn’t be here if I wasn’t. Did you think I would let someone else touch me like that?"
Venom made himself feel inside him, a shiver shook Jay as his deep voice resounded in his head. It’s perfect. Cheeky, provocative. She wants to make it ours. he wants to fill it and brand it.
Jay swallowed hard as he felt his darker side take over. With the tip of his member, he began to touch your entry, slowly teasing you, driving you crazy.
"Jay..." moans, the need in your voice was clear.
«Tell me exactly what you want,» he said with a satisfied smile.
You bent slightly, trying to push against him, but his hands stopped you, holding you still.
"Asshole," you hissed, eyes burning with desire. "Move."
A guttural growl escaped from Jay’s lips, or rather of Venom. «You are so impatient... and so excited for us.»
Then, without further ado, it pushed itself inside you, slowly at first, letting you feel every inch as your body adapted to its size.
He withheld a groan, seeing you shudder beneath him, your body wrapped around his.
"Fuck, you’re perfect...» murmured Jay, caressing your face softly. "I want you to like it.»
"Move," you whisper, the voice full of need.
It was at this moment that Venom took control. His hands seized your hips with force, his movements became deeper, faster, and more brutal.
«You hear him» he growled, his voice lower, darker. «Are you enjoying being filled like this?»
The pleasure overtook you, you clung to his shoulders, your nails sinking into his skin.
"Yes, fuck!" you panicked, your body responding to every push. You felt something fresh and sinuous enveloping your belly, sliding along your body with an unnatural precision. A glossy black tentacle crept towards your center, pressing firmly on your clitoris. A shiver ran down your back, making you shudder.
"Oh God..." groans, squeezing Jay even harder.
«Do you like it, baby?» Venom’s voice was deeper, darker. Jay was still there, but you could hear him leaving more and more room for the creature. The tentacle wrapped around your body, stroking you in places you didn’t even think were so sensitive. The pressure on you increased, each pushes more intense, deeper until you lost your breath.
«Look how well you treat us... You were born to be ours.» Venom’s voice was a hoarse whisper against your skin, a sinful murmur that made you shiver.
Jay stuck his fingers in your hips, his blows getting stronger and faster. The pleasure accumulated in your belly, each push sent waves of heat into your body, while the tentacle kept on tickling you without respite.
«Tell me you’re coming for us.» Jay clenched his jaw, holding back with difficulty.
"S-yes... I’m coming..." you panicked, your body shaking.
And when the pleasure finally exploded inside you, Venom emitted a guttural sound of approval.
«Beautiful...» whispered Jay. You felt the heat spread within you, as the tentacle slowly retreated, leaving behind a trail of electric chills.
Jay panted as Venom pushed deeper, feeling your orgasm grip him perfectly. With an animalistic growl, Jay let go of every brake, pushing himself inside you one last time before filling you.
It remained inside you for a few seconds, the heavy breath, the body still tense from pleasure.
«You are beautiful with my seed inside you,» he whispered against your neck, slowly licking your skin.
You still felt trembling, exhausted, and completely possessed by them.
«Now you are ours,» added Venom with a satisfied grin.
Jay hugged you and felt that the "human" Jay you knew was back. Both of you had a long breath, the bodies still intertwined, and you gently brushed the bruises that began to form on her skin. He sank his head into the hollow of your neck, tickling you with a warm breath, and with a thread of voice asked you:
«Did you like it?»
He seemed almost embarrassed by the question, which made you smile. You stroked him gently and with a slight smile, you replied:
"Jay, it was crazy. I was so stupid not to know that you were the guy I talked about every day..."
He stood up slowly, pulling a strand of hair from your face and touching your cheek with his fingertips. His gaze was full of sweetness but also a veil of apprehension.
«You won’t tell anyone, will you?» he asked with a hint of concern in his voice.
You smiled and, without a word, gave him your little finger. Jay burst out laughing but crossed his finger with yours, sealing that secret with a swearing oath.
After a few seconds of silence, you looked at him with curiosity.
"But... are there others like you?"
Jay just made a gesture with his boss, pointing to the little picture you had on your bedside table. In that photo were you, him, Jake, and Hoon. You felt the breath cut and brought a hand to your mouth, surprised.
"Wait... they too...?"
Jay nodded with a clever smirk. «You’ll find out for yourself. But not in spicy situations!»
You burst out laughing, shaking your head as a shiver of excitement ran down your spine. This story was becoming much more interesting than you ever imagined.

Tumblr media
Your mind was elsewhere. The faces of the victims haunted you, their unfinished stories clawing at you. You had done everything you could. You knew that. But the ghosts of "what if" still lingered.
You stood near the small coffee machine in the jet, fingers curled around a mug. You hadn't taken a sip. You weren’t even sure how long you’d been standing there, staring blankly at the darkness outside the window, your mind replaying every decision, every clue, every missed sign. Searching for something, anything, you could have done differently.
"Hi." The quiet voice pulled you from the fog of your thoughts, and you turned slightly, blinking as Spencer stood beside you. He wasn’t looking at you, not directly, but instead at the untouched coffee in your hands. His own fingers fidgeted at his sides.
"You haven’t had a sip." His voice was soft, careful.
You exhaled a small, humorless breath. "Didn’t really feel like it."
Spencer nodded, his eyes flicking up to meet yours for just a moment before settling on the floor. "It was a hard case."
You swallowed against the lump forming in your throat and nodded. "They’re all hard."
"Yeah," he agreed, his voice quieter now. "But some of them stay with you longer than others."
A heavy silence stretched between you. You knew Spencer understood. Maybe better than anyone.
"I keep thinking about what we missed," you admitted, your voice barely above a whisper. "If we had just caught something sooner, maybe they—"
"You can’t do that to yourself," Spencer interrupted gently. "We did everything we could. You did everything you could."
You wanted to believe that. Needed to. But the doubt still clung to you, stubborn and unrelenting. Spencer hesitated for a second before shifting closer, his fingers brushing lightly against yours where they gripped the mug. It was the smallest touch, barely there, but enough to comfort you for a second. Enough to remind you that you weren’t alone in this.
"Come sit with me?" he asked, his voice almost hesitant.
For a moment, you considered saying no, retreating back into the safety of your solitude. But the exhaustion in Spencer’s eyes mirrored your own, and you realized, maybe you weren’t the only one who needed this. You sat down next to each other on the couch, your body sinking into the plush seat with a quiet sigh. Spencer sat beside you, close enough that you could feel his warmth, but not quite touching. Your arm rested along the back of the couch, fingers absentmindedly tracing the fabric as you stared ahead. Spencer remained silent for a moment, as if carefully considering his words.
"You know," he started, his voice barely above a murmur, "statistically, most law enforcement professionals experience some level of post-case guilt, even when they’ve done everything right. It’s—" he hesitated, then continued more softly, "it’s normal to feel like this."
You huffed a quiet breath. "That doesn’t make it any easier."
"No," he admitted. "It doesn’t." There was another pause. "But…" Spencer shifted slightly, his knee brushing against yours. "It helps to remember that what we do matters. Even when it doesn’t feel like enough. Even when it hurts." He glanced at you then, his brown eyes searching yours. "Because if we weren’t there—if you weren’t there—it would be worse. And that has to mean something."
Something in your chest tightened at his words. Spencer wasn’t one for empty reassurances. He never said things just to say them. So you knew, without a doubt, that he meant every word. You let out a slow breath, your body finally allowing itself to release some of the tension you’d been holding. Without thinking too much about it, you shifted closer, resting your head against his shoulder.
For a moment, he tensed, just slightly, like he wasn’t expecting it. But then, just as quickly, he relaxed. You felt him tilt his head, the warmth of his cheek resting lightly against your hair. Neither of you spoke. There was nothing more that needed to be said. And as your eyelids fluttered closed, the last thing you felt was Spencer’s fingers ghosting over your arm in the lightest touch.
Across the cabin, Derek and Emily sat across from each other, a deck of playing cards scattered between them on the table. The game had lost its appeal somewhere around the third round, both of them too drained from the case to focus, but neither ready to sleep just yet.
It was Emily who noticed first. She had been mid-sip of her coffee when her gaze drifted toward the couch, and her eyebrows lifted slightly in surprise. Nudging Derek’s foot under the table, she tilted her head in their direction. Derek followed her gaze, and a slow grin spread across his face.
"Well, well," he murmured, leaning back in his seat. "Would you look at that?"
Emily smirked, setting her mug down. "About time, don’t you think?"
Spencer and you were curled together on the small jet couch, your head tucked against his shoulder, his resting gently against yours. His arm had shifted somewhere during the flight, now draped lightly along the back of the seat, fingers barely brushing against your shoulder in sleep. And for the first time all night, you both looked peaceful.
Derek shook his head, amusement flickering in his eyes. "I knew Pretty Boy had it in him. Took him long enough, though."
Emily chuckled, crossing her arms. "We should let them sleep. I think they both needed it."
"Yeah, yeah," Derek said, waving a hand. But the teasing glint in his eye remained. "Doesn’t mean I won’t bring this up later."
Just then, a shadow shifted in the doorway. Hotch stood near the back of the cabin, watching the two of you with softness. Emily and Derek exchanged a glance before Derek leaned forward, keeping his voice low. "So, what do you think, Hotch? Should we start taking bets?"
Hotch exhaled a quiet breath, shaking his head. His gaze flickered back toward you and Spencer. Without another word, Hotch turned, making his way toward his seat.
Emily smirked, leaning toward Derek. "That’s a yes on the betting pool, by the way." Derek let out a low chuckle, shaking his head as they settled back into their seats.
And on the couch, nestled against Spencer, you slept blissfully unaware of the knowing smiles around you.

After playing red light, green light you hoped that you didn’t have to wake up the next day, you had no clue that a simple children’s game could have that amount of blood and death in it. After agreeing that you would join gi-hun’s plan, he told you all about the rule that ‘when your eliminated, your gone for good’ you didn’t really believe him but now you definitely do.
a part of you also wondered how long your brother survived.. a day? two? three? you wish you could of just slapped him silly and got him a job in your coffee shop. But- here you was awakening by the sound of classical music playing out of a speaker and metal squeaking as all the players started to move around in their bed.
you woke feeling not tired at all, not even doing the usual ‘rubbing your eyes and yawning’. Probably due to your lack of sleep or the amount of trauma you got from the day previous.
“y/n.. hey.. y/n” you heard a voice, a familiar one.. a frantic gi-hun was standing next to your bed, tapping your arm. “gi-hun, you okay?” you said which gi-hun replied with a shrug as he looked around at the players. “your telling me that everytime we wake up we’re going to hear that music?” you huffed, looking up at the speakers. “trust me, that should be the least of your worry.. I still can’t figure out how they managed to get our tracking chips” gi-hun said, now looking at you with a face of absolute confusion.
“players please line up in two cues to get breakfast” a woman’s voice from a speaker said in her usual happy tone. “come on, maybe a bite to eat will make us think” gi-hun proposed hitting the metal post of your bed, waiting for you to get up and join a line.
upon waiting in the cue, you and gi-hun got a load of looks and whispers.. few that said “look there’s the mad man” , “do you think they are a couple?” , “a nearly died because of that punk shouting”. you both ignored them and soon enough you received a bread roll and a carton of milk.
“hey y/n.. take my milk, you know my stomach doesn’t take it well” gi hun said, handing over his carton as you both took a seat on some steps next to jungbae and dae ho. you got to know the guys after red light, green light, gi-hun introduced jungbae to you saying that they were friends outside the game and well dae ho.. introduced himself to group after hearing over the discussion on what the next game could be which will now happen after the big vote that went on. That’s right. The vote. most of the players after red light, green light started begging to let them go and it ended with a massive vote to either stay or go and of course majority said stay.
“excuse me..” a voice approached the group, your wasn’t very familiar with it but after looking up it was the guy that came over to gi-hun after the vote, young-ill his name was.
“you all wouldn’t mind if I joined this group? a lot of players are talking about the next game being a team game. most of the groups formed already are teams of five and there are only four of y-“ young-ill said before getting dramatically cut off by dae ho “yes! you look very strong and have good thinking! reminds me of a pal i had when i was in the marines!” he said, putting his arm around his shoulder and patting his head.
you laughed, finding the situation of how dae ho was younger than young-ill and still acting like the oldest funny. “of course, take a seat” gi-hun said, his tone not one hundred percent certain on this guy as he gave you a look of ‘keep a eye on him’.
“I say why not! what about you y/n can 001 join us?” Jungbae asked to which you just shrugged and looked over at the group “I don’t mind..” you said which got a kind smile off young-ill.
“Well welcome welcome double one!” dae ho said, looking over at young-ill as he took a bite out of his bread roll. “ah.. Thank you” young-ill replied, taking a look at everyone but lingering on you suspiciously long. “I couldn’t help but overhear the conversation before.. wanna take my milk too? I’m in the same situation as 456” young-hill said, looking over at you.. passing his carton of milk over to you.
You looked at him for a moment before shaking your head with a smile “thank you, but I think dae ho wants it more than me” you replied, pointing over to dae ho who was staring at the milk carton like he was an lion eyeing up its prey. Young- ill understood and nodded passing it over to dae ho instead.. his smile dropping almost like he was planning to give you the milk from the start.
“All players please make your way to the game hall.. the next game will be starting shortly” an announcement called out from the speaker which gave you a fright, spilling the milk that you was drinking on yourself. “fuck!” You groaned out of annoyance, taking your zip up jumper off and throwing it besides you as you and your team stood up.
you started to walk to the game hall before young-ill couldn’t help himself but approach you “you’ve got some- may I?” He said, pointing to your chin which had a white stripe of milk running down it. how embarrassing. Before you could answer young-ill had already brought his jumpers wrist and wipe it off for you.
“there you go..” he said, looking at you with a kind smile. “thank you, I didn’t realise- that could of been embarrassing” you said getting a little too flustered in the moment, you couldn’t lie to yourself he was attractive. “ah.. it was nothing, don’t thank me.. okay?” he said, looking up at your eyes before glancing down to your lips in a quick motion. you nodded, noticing the look and shaking the intimate motion off completely by hitting his shoulder and walking ahead “we’re going to be late! come on!”.
young-ill watched you walk off out of the door, now being left in the holding room with a bunch of guards. “whatever you do, keep that one safe..” he said, which in return got a bunch of nods and with that he walked out the door too.
